We're already halfway through March 2022 and there are plenty of new movies and TV shows launching on Hulu and Prime Video to keep audiences entertained in the final week of winter. Both digital platforms have unveiled a fresh wave of original programming with a growing library of fan-favorite content. And while all the choices on what to stream this week may be a bit daunting, CBR has you covered to help you narrow down your streaming selections for the weekend.
Here are all the best television series and movies available to stream on Prime Video and Hulu this weekend, from shows poised for a complete binge-watch to programming set to leave either digital platform in the waning weeks of March.
Deep Water Is an All-Star Erotic Thriller
After experiencing several delays, the erotic thriller Deep Water is finally making its debut on Hulu. Starring Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas as married couple Vic and Melinda, the two play mind games in order to keep their relationship alive. However, this takes a lethal turn when the secrets they hold and games they play on each other result in a growing number of deaths.
In addition to its popular leads, Deep Water marks the return of filmmaker Adrian Lynne following a 20-year absence from directing feature films. Deep Water is a movie that keeps its audience off-balance as much as its main characters as Vic and Melinda's marriage begins to violently unravel. Joining Affleck and de Armas is Jacob Elordi, fresh off the acclaimed Euphoria, as a young man roped into the couple's games.
The Addams Family Hits the Road
The Addams Family was reintroduced to modern audiences in 2019 with a successful CG animated movie, but the animated reboot is set to leave Hulu next week on March 23. This should provide more than enough time for audiences to catch one last watch of the hit movie before it departs to digital platforms unknown. The movie follows the family coming together and relocating to New Jersey as an origin story of sorts.
With an impressive voice cast, headed by Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron as Gomez and Morticia Addams, The Addams Family is a freewheeling good time. Be sure to catch this animated movie to see the morbid mob before they leave Hulu entirely.
How I Met Your Mother Is Ready for the Rewatch
The inaugural season of How I Met Your Father has come to an end, with the mystery of who will go on to father protagonist Sophie's child only just getting started. With plenty of time until Season 2 makes its eventual premiere, now is the perfect time to go back to where the franchise started by binging all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother. The entire series is available to stream on Hulu, so fans can revisit the sitcom, especially in light of the growing connections between it and How I Met Your Father.
Running from 2005 to 2014, How I Met Your Mother chronicles Ted Mosby's quest to find true love in the wake of his best friends becoming engaged in the series premiere. Along the way, Ted and his friends are drawn into plenty of romantic escapades while progressing into their 30s. There is a reason why How I Met Your Mother endured for a nine-season run, and while its finale remains divisive, the bulk of the series continues to hold up.
Prometheus Takes Alien Back to the Beginning
This week saw horror filmmaker Fede Álvarez get the nod to helm an Alien feature film, making this the perfect chance to return to the sci-fi horror franchise's bloody roots. While the streaming licensing for the 1979 original Alien film is a bit complicated, the 2010 prequel film Prometheus was added to Prime Video at the beginning of March. And though critical reception to Prometheus is mixed, now is a great time for a reevaluation of the movie.
Buoyed by an engaging performance from star Noomi Rapace, Prometheus traces the origins of the bloodthirsty xenomorphs and the nefarious lengths the Weyland-Yutani Corporation goes to investigate the mysteries of the cosmos. As the crew of the Prometheus face the horrors of a faraway planet, they learn the deadliest threat may be amongst their crew. Prometheus marked filmmaker Ridley Scott's return to the franchise that he launched decades prior, and with some genuine scares along the way and a bold, new vision, the movie is worth the watch.
Pam & Tommy Stands Complete for a Binge Watch
One of the most buzzed-about television miniseries of the year so far is Pam & Tommy, and now the lurid saga surrounding Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's stolen sex tape is complete. Created by Robert Siegel, the miniseries boasts an all-star cast recreating the whirlwind courtship, marriage and worldwide scandal that dogged Anderson and Lee's romance in the 1990s. And though Sebastian Stan and Seth Rogen both perform their roles admirably, the series really is an acting tour-de-force for star Lily James in her portrayal as Anderson.
Hulu pulled out all the stops for Pam & Tommy, and the eight-episode miniseries is finally available to stream in full for those not looking for the week-to-week release. Not pulling its punches in the tabloid fodder sleaze, Pam & Tommy contains a surprising amount of heart, largely driven by James' performance as a victim caught in a multimedia maelstrom. In regards to the miniseries' story, come for the scandal and stick around for the entertainment industry tragedy.
