Elden Ring is currently one of the most popular RPGs and already has a 10/10 rating on IGN. Made in collaboration with novelist George R. R. Martin (A Song Of Ice And Fire), Elden Ring follows the player's Tarnished as they journey through the Lands Between, defeating monsters and the demigod children of Marika the Eternal. The game has said to be a return to form for FromSoftware, who shot to popularity by creating the Dark Souls franchise.

Elden Ring follows in its predecessors footsteps in being a 'Soulsy' game, driven by epic boss battles, a dark atmosphere, and medieval fantasy setting. However, fans might find themselves wanting more after playing Elden Ring. There are plenty of movies out there for gamers who are burnt out from no-lifing the game.

10 The Lord Of The Rings Franchise: A Classic Fantasy Epic Adventure

The Fellowship of The Ring, gathered together in LOTR

The Lord Of The Rings, Peter Jackson's epic trilogy, is said to be the best adaptation of Tolkien's novels thus far. It follows the hobbit Frodo as he and his companions journey across Middle Earth to destroy the One Ring and banish evil from the world. The Hobbit prequels also follow a similar storyline, with Bilbo aiding Thorin in his attempt to retake the throne of Erebor.

The Lord Of The Rings is most like Elden Ring in the nature of its overarching mission, and the fact that it involves an all powerful ring. There are a few boss-fights throughout the trilogy though, including a battle between the Fellowship and a troll.

9 Solomon Kane: A Mercenary Must Rescue A Puritan From An Evil Sorcerer

Solomon Kane is a fun and enjoyable watch for viewers who aren't too concerned about story. Solomon Kane follows the titular mercenary who, after stating he will shed no more blood, is forced to pick up his arms once more to save a puritan girl from Malachi, a follower of the Devil. Solomon Kane has a period setting, putting a fantastical twist on 1600s England.

Like Elden Ring, Solomon Kane involves the protagonist trekking across a brutish landscape, aiding rebels along the way to achieve their goal. While the goals differ, the overarching themes are the same.

8 Pan's Labyrinth: Childlike Escapism And Peculiar Creatures

The Faun from Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth is about as eerie and fantastical as a movie could get. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, Pan's Labyrinth follows Ofelia as she encounters a mysterious faun in a labyrinth. He tells her she is the reincarnation of a princess, and gives her three tasks to complete. In this sense, the story echoes the 'fetch-quest' elements of many video games and mirrors the peculiar mystical creatures seen in Elden Ring.

Perhaps more than anything though, it is the setting of Pan's Labyrinth that is similar to Elden Ring, and del Toro's film puts a fantasy twist on a period setting. The cinematography and color palette of Pan's Labyrinth is bleak with a green tinge, while the creatures are realistic and terrifying.

7 The Green Knight: A Knight Proves His Strength To His King

The Green Knight image of character on top of hill

Many fans have noted that A24's 2021 movie The Green Knight perfectly embodies the boss-fight aspect of Elden Ring and the other Souls games. Starring Dev Patel as Sir Gawain, nephew of King Arthur, The Green Knight is about Gawain's quest to take the head of the Green Knight before the Knight kills him. His story is simple: he wants to prove his strength to his family and himself.

While the A24 movie wasn't particularly well received, The Green Knight does a great job at capturing the mood of Elden Ring and what it is like to battle a being that's much larger than a human. The movie has had two previous iterations, one in 1973 and the other in 1984.

6 Princess Mononoke: Magical Beings Battle Greedy Humans In This Ghibli Epic

Princess Mononoke

Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke charmed audiences when it was released and drew much attention to the Japanese studio. Directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, Princess Mononoke is a fantasy epic set in the late Muromachi period of Japan. It follows the titular princess as she and Eboshi prince Ashitaka attempt to settle the feud between nature and humanity.

With large talking beasts, spirits of the forest, and a feudal setting, the overall mood of Princess Mononoke closely mirrors that of Elden Ring. Despite the lighter colors of the movie, the themes of corruption and death emphasize the darkness of this changing world. It is a must-watch, whether an anime fan or not.

5 Highlander: Immortal Sword Fighting In Medieval Scotland

Highlander: Sean Connery's Ramirez holding a sword to the neck of Christopher Lambert's Connor MacLeod.

Highlander, starring Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert, is a fun, action-packed, sword-fighting adventure. Set across timelines, Highlander follows Christopher Lambert's Connor MacLeod, an immortal from 1500s Scotland. Across time, he battles other immortals (including Connery's Ramirez) to obtain the fabled Prize before his mortal enemy, Kurgan.

Highlander closely mirrors Elden Ring's combat more than anything else, along with the immortal nature of the characters and the setting at the start of the movie. Highlander is cheesy and camp, but wonderfully enjoyable and ideal for gamers who are burnt out from playing Elden Ring for too long.

4 A Writer's Odyssey: Massive Monsters In A Souls-Like World

A Writer's Odyssey

Fans have been quick to note the comparisons between Netflix's new movie A Writer's Odyssey and Elden Ring, mostly due to the amount of hulking fantasy creatures the characters must battle. A Writer's Odyssey is mind-bending and disturbing, taking audiences on a fantasy fueled journey across mythological-inspired settings.

Following a man tasked with killing a writer, A Writer's Odyssey blends reality with fantasy and Chinese mythology as the world the writer is creating comes to life. Characters are transported to another world where they must kill the monstrous Lord Redmane, who looks like he has been pulled straight from a Dark Souls game. A Writer's Odyssey is one of the best Chinese films to be released in the past year.

3 The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf Follows A Monster Hunter Who's Fighting Powers Greater Than Him

The Witcher Nightmare of the Wolf Vesemir

The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf is a prequel to Geralt's story in The Witcher universe. It follows a young Vesemir on his travels. Adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, the nature of The Witcher echoes the feeling of the lone protagonist in Elden Ring and the Souls games.

Battling monsters, and using spells and potions to do so, is the very essence of Elden Ring, as it is in The Witcher. Nightmare Of The Wolf shows what it means to be an outcast in a superstitious society, and follows Vesemir's journey to becoming more than just a mercenary working for coin.

2 Tenshi No Tamago/Angel's Egg: Eerie Fantasy That Perfectly Captures Elden Ring's Mood

Angel's Egg

Tenshi No Tamago, translated to Angel's Egg, is a 1985 Japanese art movie written and directed by Mamoru Oshii (of Ghost In The Shell fame). Angel's Egg is a generally quiet film, and is more of a philosophical meditation than anything else. While it may not be everyone's preferred genre, Angel's Egg is hailed as one of the best artistic anime movies and the most symbolic of Oshii's career.

Angel's Egg is closest to Elden Ring in its atmosphere and mood, as it is dark and fantastical. It is more of a sci-fi movie than fantasy. However, elements of mythology permeate the film as the story follows an unnamed girl as she cares for a mysterious egg.

1 Willow: A Hero Must Deliver A Princess To Save The Kingdom

Warwick Davis in Willow

Willow is a lighthearted and family friendly movie. It stars Warwick Davis as the titular Willow, a Nelwyn farmer. Willow is tasked with delivering the baby princess Elora to safety, so that she might grow up and fulfill the prophecy that she will defeat the evil Bavmorda.

Similar to The Lord Of The Rings, Willow is a hero's journey story about an underdog saving the world. Willow mirrors the fantasy setting and character goals of Elden Ring.
