Since his debut in Ultimate Fallout #4, Miles Morales has not just become a sensation, but a core staple of the Spider-Man mythos. Although the Ultimate line may have ended, Miles continues to thrive in the main Marvel Universe, as well as in other media, like the highly successful Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

Of course, anybody with the popularity and acclaim Miles has had is bound to generate a few memes. With a new video game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, set for release in November, now seems like a perfect opportunity to look at some funny Miles memes.

10 Not Rocking The Upvote

Voting is important, and as far as Miles’ dad is concerned, so is upvoting. Fans may remember the real reason for Jefferson Davis’ shocked expression was that Miles had just told him about a coffee shop called “Foam Party.”

While Jefferson’s surprised look was immediately followed by a laugh in the film, leaving the chuckle out gives the meme-ified version of the scene an extra comedic wallop. It’s definitely a scenario that users of sites like Reddit and 9GAG can relate to. Looks like Miles needs to learn that great meme viewing comes great responsibility…

9 Bee Cool

In one of the most famous and memorable scenes from Into The Spider-Verse, Miles, following his Uncle Aaron’s advice on talking to women, walks up to Gwen Stacy, puts his arm on her shoulder, and says, “Hey”…right before realizing his hand is stuck.

Funnily enough, Miles’ awkward attempt at talking to Gwen resembles Barry B. Benson’s first conversation with Vanessa, the human who saved his life in Bee Movie. So much so, in fact, that Barry’s classic line while figuring out what to say would have been a perfect alternate pick-up line for Miles, although it probably would have worked just as badly.

8 Let The Games Begin

While Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released in the U.S. on the exact same day as the PlayStation 5, it’s not the only superhero launch title for the console. Though already released for the PS4, Marvel’s Avengers will also get a PS5 release on November 12, placing it in direct competition with Miles’ new game.

This meme pokes fun at the Avengers game’s polarizing reception. The infamous "Distracted Boyfriend" is showing considerably more interest in Miles’ upcoming adventure, suggesting the Web-Slinger just might steal the show from Earth’s Mightiest Heroes when they make their PS5 debut.

7 Spider-Grab

Poor Sasuke Uchiha can’t even catch a break in Meme-Land, where his misfortune has inspired the infamous “Sasuke Choke.” Not content to miss out, Miles has thrown his hat — or rather, his hand — into the ring, in a YouTube video made by Tony J Productions.

In the full video, Miles says “Hey” in a brand new context. Namely, in costume and while slamming opponent Sasuke into a wall, right before essentially disintegrating the Naruto character with a knife-hand strike to the back. At least Sasuke won’t have to worry about one-handed strangles anymore…until the next meme comes out, that is.

6 Heymoji

Had The Emoji Movie been Spider-Verse themed, it might have looked at least a little like the image above. Miles, in full-on “Hey” mode, leads the pack, standing in for Gene Meh while racing forward with Peni Parker (whose head has replaced Jailbreak’s), Peter (whose face squarely rests on Hi-5’s palm), and Spider-Ham (who’s kept his body, but has replaced Poop).

Despite The Emoji Movie’s poor reception, the picture is undeniably hilarious, and probably the closest it and Into The Spider-Verse will ever get to crossing over. It’s certainly earned a few laugh emojis.

5 With Great [Will]Power

Not even a beloved celebrity like Will Smith could save YouTube Rewind 2018 from getting Dislike-bombed. Leave it to the Fresh Prince to make the best out of a bad situation, however, as the scene when Smith peers into binoculars at the Fortnite bus has become a highly popular meme.

In this version of the meme, however, an entirely different game has caught his eye: Miles’ highly anticipated PS5 game. Smith is no stranger to playing superheroes, having played one in 2008’s Hancock. Though it’s unlikely to happen, a team-up between Miles and Hancock could prove entertaining.

4 Pizza Break

The newly released gameplay footage for the PS5’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has already been met with much acclaim. Since the game is a sequel to the PS4’s Marvel's Spider-Man, however, one can’t help but wonder: where’s Peter Parker?

One meme suggests a humorous answer, reinterpreting the scene from the DLC mission “The Heist” to make it look like Pete’s taking a well-earned time out for a slice of Eddie’s Pizza. Meanwhile, Miles is trying to rescue a bridge damaged by Roxxon and the Tinkerer’s Underground forces. Thank goodness Miles inherited Peter’s powers and not his timing…

3 Spider-Metric

Who doesn’t love a good pun? Miles is back in his father’s cab, with Jefferson giving his son a dubious lesson about the metric system. Of course, you’re probably not going to find any part of the world that translates Miles’ name to “Kilometers”—or “Kilometres," but it’s a great meme nonetheless.

If there is one lesson Miles could learn from his dad’s fake factoid, it’s that the measure of a man is not his name, but his deeds (pun intended). At least his name isn’t Inch High (as in Inch High, Private Eye)…

2 Greece Is The Word

Spider-Verse Greek/Roman history meme.

“Learning to be Spider-Man” is another popular meme featuring Miles, taken from a scene where he’s about to infiltrate an Alchemax laboratory with Peter Parker. Here the scene gets a historical bent that’s bound to make history buffs smile, with mentor Peter being labeled “Greece,” while Miles is called “Rome”: A reference to the heavy influence Ancient Greek culture had on early Roman Society.

All the other Miles looking at “Rome” Miles represent, of course, the various empires and nations that succeeded the Roman Empire. Leave it to geniuses like Miles and Pete to turn a meme into an educational experience.

1 The Last Thing We Need

Who needs friends when you can look at Into the Spider-Verse memes all day? Miles is clearly holding something far more important, which Peter quickly takes note of. What Pete doesn’t take into account, however, is that you do need a monitor to see memes on a computer, making his decision to chuck the device feel somewhat premature.

In the smartphone age, though, who even needs a desktop computer at all to look at memes? Miles and Pete might as well chuck the whole thing. At least, they’d have less to lug around while running from Doctor Octopus and Alchemax scientists.
