Marvel heroes generally get along. There may be arguments here and there, but there is no hatred or vendettas among them. The villains of the Marvel Universe are another story entirely. Villains, by nature, are selfish and suffer from a lack of compassion.

Marvel villains come from diverse backgrounds and have different goals and methods. Some of the more human villains seek power and influence, others are genocidal aliens and some are evil incarnate like Carnage or Mephisto. Villains often have to fight each other out of self-preservation, but they tend to clash because they want the same thing. Marvel heroes would be in real trouble if the villains got along and worked together, but fortunately, some villains hate each other more than their heroic enemies.

Norman Osborn became Spider-Man's worst enemy as the Green Goblin, but Osborn met his apparent end. Fashion mogul Roderick Kingsley stepped into the role of the most fearsome goblin around when he found Osborn's stash of weapons and became the Hobgoblin.

Osborn returned and denied being the Green Goblin. Kingsley wanted to take Osborn down by exposing him. Osborn hated Kingsley for stealing his gimmicks but gave him weapons to get close enough to kill him. The Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin fought to a standstill with no definitive winner.

Apocalypse wanted Sinister to create a virus for him, but Sinister didn't want to wipe humanity out. Sinister betrayed Apocalypse and forced him into hibernation. Sinister then worked on creating a powerful bloodline which culminated in Cable, a mutant who dedicated his life to killing Apocalypse.

8 The Beyonder Is Threatened By The Molecule Man's Power

The Beyonder is a cosmic being, but his powers are rivaled by those of the Molecule Man, a powered human. The Beyonder observed humans and grew fascinated by them.

The Beyonder once tried to become a human but was stopped by the Molecule Man. Beyonder resented Molecule Man and his reality warping potential. Molecule Man is comfortable living as normal Owen Reece but understands that he is the only one who can stop the Beyonder when he threatens Earth. When Molecule Man's dark side was unleashed, its desire was to destroy the Beyonder.

7 The Kree And The Skrull Have Been Locked In War For Thousands Of Years

The genetically superior Kree have fought The Avengers while the shape-shifting Skrulls have had their invasion attempts thwarted by The Fantastic Four. The contempt the Kree and Skrull feel for the Earth is nothing compared to the hatred they have for each other.

The Skrull originally sought trade and issued a challenge between the races of Hala, the Kree and the Cotati. The Kree brutally attacked the Cotati and the Skrull, which sparked their conflict. The millennia-long war between the alien races is seemingly endless and has often spilled over to Earth.

6 There's No Love In Venom And Carnage's Father/Son Relationship

Eddie Brock's hatred for Spider-Man was compounded when he bonded with Spider-Man's discarded symbiote. Venom became one of Spider-Man's deadliest and frightening villains. The symbiote birthed an offspring that bonded with serial killer Cletus Kasady. As Carnage, Kasady became worse than Venom ever was.

Despite their many similarities, Venom and Carnage hate each other. Venom's anger is focused whereas Carnage delights in chaos. Venom tries to reign Carnage in, which only makes Carnage hate him more. Carnage is so bad that Venom had to form a truce with Spider-Man to stop him.

5 Magneto Hates Everything The Red Skull Stands For

Magneto is considered a villain because he believes that humans and mutants can't share the planet and the only solution is to get rid of the humans. He witnessed the horrors of the Holocaust and has seen the worst humanity has to offer and will protect mutants at all costs.

The Red Skull, a surviving Nazi, is a living reminder of what Magneto suffered. When a group of villains got together during the "Acts of Vengeance" arc, Magneto couldn't work with the Red Skull. Instead, Magneto buried him alive in a crypt.

4 Hammerhead Constantly Vies For Kingpin's Territory

Despite the abundance of heroes in New York, it's still home to various crime organizations. Wilson Fisk earned the name the Kingpin of Crime by being the most brilliant criminal mastermind in the city, but he must always be aware of those waiting to dethrone him.

Hammerhead was part of the Maggia, a powerful crime syndicate. Kingpin once attempted and failed to assassinate Hammerhead, and the hatred between them has only grown. Hammerhead is often the first person to try and usurp the Kingpin's territory whenever Fisk finds himself in legal trouble.

3 Kang's Hatred For Immortus Makes Him His Own Worst Enemy

Kang, a time-traveler armed with futuristic weaponry, is one of the most successful villains in the entire Marvel Universe. Unsatisfied with conquering planets in his own time, he travels to the past to fight the Avengers. The biggest thorn in Kang's side is the fact that he's destined to become Immortus.

Immortus has also antagonized the Avengers, but he manipulates them to preserve the timeline. Kang resents Immortus's careful ways. Kang will do whatever he can to ensure that he won't become Immortus, even going so far as to try and kill his future self.

Thanos acquires power through hard work while Mephisto does it through lies and deceit. When Thanos put together the Infinity Gauntlet, Mephisto became his adviser. He convinced Thanos that wiping out half of all life in the universe would impress Death.

Thanos's actions brought heroes and greater cosmic beings to his doorstep. During this, Mephisto tried and failed to steal the Infinity Gauntlet from him. They would team up again when Mephisto taught Thanos about the Cosmic Cubes only for Thanos to repay him by giving him a powerless cube.

1 Ultron Is The One Robot Doctor Doom Can't Control

Doctor Doom is, among other things, a master of robotics. The feared Avenger villain Ultron wasn't a threat to him but did present a challenge. Doom sought to reprogram and ultimately control him. This failed, and Doom only made an enemy in Ultron.

Many possible futures depict Doom and Ultron battling against each other. The Doom of Avengers Wasteland easily destroyed a peaceful Ultron, Doom 2099 battled an Ultron who controlled an army of Deathloks, and the Ultron of 2420 had already defeated the Avengers and only Doctor Doom stood in his way.
