Here are 10 examples of fans who wanted to show off their love for Marvel in a more permanent way with a tattoo.

10 DR. STRANGE

Dr. Stephen Strange, more commonly referred to as Dr. Strange, is a time-traveling, matter-bending hero. Starting off as a privileged, rich man looking for a way to cure his seemingly, irreversible hand injury, he ventures into an ancient and mysterious way of healing that plunges him into a fight to save the world and its existence.

Played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the hit 2016 film, the tattoo does an amazing job capturing the actor's likeness. Plus, the fractured pieces in the tattoo's design gives the illusion that Dr. Strange is messing with reality right on this fan's skin.

9 GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

This tattoo was done by Andrew Bissell (@bigcattattoos), it's a fantastic rendition of the now-classic mixtape from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy series. Awesome Mix Vol. 2 was a soundtrack featured in the series sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Peter Quill, the main character of the series and played by actor Chris Pratt in the film, carries his mix of funky, rock, and fun songs on his walkman. Fans have loved the soundtrack featured in these mixes, and this fan obviously loved these jams so much they had to get it immortalized forever on themselves. Rock on!

8 IRON MAN

Iron Man is a long-time, beloved character of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With the first Iron Man movie coming out over a decade ago, there has been lots of content to come out to thrill fans over the years. One of the most emotional scenes in the Marvel Avengers series and probably in general MCU history was a quote delivered by Iron Man's kid saying "I love you 3000".

The tattoo artist who created the work above is from a studio in South Korea called SOL (@soltattoo). Many of the tattoos have this faded, pointillism look to them. In this post, you can also see tattoo work from other famous universes like Toy Story, Harry Potter, and DC.

7 AVENGERS

The tattoo above depicts the notorious Infinity Gauntlet. The gauntlet and its accompanying infinity stones cross over into multiple storylines and were featured prominently in the recent Avengers films. Thanos, a villain and one of the most powerful characters in the MCU, utilizes this gauntlet to wreak havoc onto not only earth's loyal heroes but also to other multiple universes. The thoughts and morality surrounding Thanos's mission and powers have caused the gauntlet to remind fans of the dark philosophy presented by him.

The fan shows this by quoting Thanos in his caption, "You couldn't live with your own failure. Where did that bring you?"

6 SPIDER-MAN

This fan must feel a very deep connection with Marvel's popular hero, Spider-Man. The tattoo is brilliantly designed to where it looks like the fan's normal skin is disguising his true identity. The tattoo makes it looks like his ripped skin was exposed to show the famous red, webbing suit Spider-Man is usually sporting.

Spider-Man is a hero that was originally crafted by the late Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Appearing first in the 60s, the character has seen through many suit designs from a black suit to green, and even all-white. However, the classic red design seems to still be the popular choice by fans everywhere.

5 WOLVERINE

The Marvel universe can't be discussed without mentioning the insanely popular X-Men franchise. Originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 1960s, X-Men has been successfully running for years through films, TV shows, video games, and comics. The series revolves around a subspecies of human beings called mutants. These mutants are beloved characters that have had a loyal fan base for years.

The mutant depicted above is named Wolverine, also known as Logan. Famous for his long, retractable claws in his hands, this tattoo does a great job featuring his lethal energy and sharp weapon. Although Wolverine is known for his bright yellow suit, the black and white design of the tattoo does not do any less justice in recognizing the character.

4 BLACK WIDOW

Black Widow is a character known for her many appearances in the MCU. She's appeared in all the Avengers movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, and Iron Man 2. There is also a new movie in the works solely for Black Widow and her backstory as well.

This tattoo is done by artist Tink Miller (@tinkmillertattoo). Her tattoos often have this animated and sketch-style that can be seen very well in the tattoo above. The likeness of the actress who played Black Widow, Scarlett Johansen, is extremely uncanny.

3 DEADPOOL

Deadpool is another famous Marvel character that fans all over the world are absolutely in love with. Played by actor Ryan Reynolds in the recent movies, the Marvel franchise has made millions off the movie alone. Along with the comics, video game, and merchandise, Deadpool is easily one of the most successful Marvel characters in recent years. Whether it's his dark and dirty humor or his strange abilities and reactions, Deadpool is fun to cosplay, draw, and replicate.

The tattoo above depicts Deadpool in a very cartoonish light, almost as if the artist was basing their tattoo off of a Deadpool Funko or "chibi" version. The bright colors and neat shine to the ink makes it a nice tattoo to look at.

2 MARVEL

This fan loves Marvel so much he wanted to have the famous Marvel MCU opening on his skin. In recent years, Marvel films have begun in a sequence that features the word Marvel with scenes from the MCU flicking inside the letters. Inside this tattoo, the fan has picked The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool, and Iron Man to be featured on the letters.

1 CAPTAIN MARVEL

This ink is done by Brandon Sommers (@brandonsommerstattoo). It's a detailed depiction of the star that's featured on Captain Marvel's suit. This "underbust" tattoo looks expertly done and even if non-Marvel fans don't recognize where the original design was inspired from, the artistry can still be appreciated. Captain Marvel is a recent superhero that was re-imagined as a female superhero and played by actress Brie Larson in the film. The hero is an absolute symbol of girl power and this fan obviously has tons of it.
