The attention to detail throughout Nina's Nightmare makes it feel like the player is racing through the Halloween section of an amusement park. Dilapidated windmills, trees with gnarled branches arching over the track, and the giant moon in the sky shining through dark clouds help create the spooky aesthetic.

Racers weave their way through fields of tombstones and past the intimidating Pumpkin Lord with its giant stomping legs. There's also a haunted mansion filled with eerie portraits, including one that parodies The Addams Family.

The concept for this level is interesting and terrifying in equal measure. It takes place within ex-mercenary Orson Mills' nightmare. The player wakes up at the beach, on a bed with human skulls at the foot of it, wearing a pumpkin on his head and a trenchcoat.

The barren landscape is populated by dead trees, patches of long grass, and tombstones. The nightmarish setting, sacrificing enemies in satanic rituals, and being able to throw mini pumpkins at the guards add a cool twist to the game.

Kingdom Hearts

The aesthetics are beautifully dark, with the world managing to capture the eccentric gloominess of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Characters from the movie show up and move the story along, and players can even have Jack Skellington as a party member.

Goofy, Donald, and Sora get ghastly makeovers, too, which adds to the charm. In Kingdom Hearts II, players even get to go to Christmas Town as part of the world.

Creepy Castle from Donkey Kong 64 certainly lives up to its name. The raging storm, together with the somber music, creates an unnerving atmosphere that's a world away from chomping on bananas in the jungle.

This enormous floating castle has a library, mad museum, and haunted ballroom to explore and is filled with bloodcurdling enemies like bats, Ghost Books, and skeletal Kritters. There's also a mine cart ride hidden in the catacombs where Donkey has to avoid the attacks of the Resident Demon.

1 Level 7 Turns Springfield Into A Zombie-Infested Nightmare

The Simpsons: Hit & Run

The Simpsons hit and run level 7 Homer driving with bones behind car

Homer has to deliver as much nuclear waste as possible to the UFO as it's the aliens' weakness.

The music has an eerie vibe and Homer can drive the zombie car or a hearse. Krusty Burger transforms into Zombie Burger, and the Kwik-E-Mart is the Spook-E-Mart, and all manner of tombstones and jack-o'lanterns litter the map.
