While Hollywood has produced some of the greatest films over the years, they've also made plenty of flops and have had a fair share of failures. However, even less than stellar movies can still provide entertainment and make viewers escape from the troubles of the real world. Although there are universally loved movies, no one project is completely loved by every viewer, and no one project is completely loathed by every viewer.

10 Kindergarten Cop Features Arnold Showcasing Both His Action & Comedy Acting Chops

kindergarten cop arnold 1990

After dominating action movies in the 1980s, Arnold Schwarzenegger began the 1990s with two awesome but wildly different films. Total Recall starred the Austrian Oak as a futuristic secret agent, and Kindergarten Cop had the future Governator going undercover as a school teacher.

While Total Recall was an awesome action sci-fi movie, Arnold's performance in Kindergarten Cop showed his range as an actor. He was hilariously funny as an undercover cop working a case as a kindergarten teacher. Mixing his action movie background with funny children and a complex love story, Arnold proved he could tackle all facets of acting.

Two years after the success of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, director Nicholas Stoller returned to the same universe but focused on rockstar Aldous Snow. Russell Brand returned as Aldous Snow, and Jonah Hill co-starred as Aaron Green in Get Him To The Greek, one of the most underrated comedies of the 21st century. After releasing an awful new single titled "African Child," Snow's life begins to fall apart until Aaron shows up with the opportunity of a lifetime.

Snow and his band are to perform at the Greek Theater in LA, ten years after their first amazing performance there. Brand and Hill are hilarious in their roles and play off each other so well, creating multiple memorable moments that have flown under the radar.

8 Wanderlust Is A Wild Comedy & Love Story Featuring A Great Ensemble Cast

wanderlust paul rudd jen anniston

Wanderlust is a hilarious movie that seemed to be overlooked when it was released in 2012. Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston as a Manhattan couple, the movie follows them as they try and spice up their lives by moving into a promiscuously rural farm. Justin Theroux plays Seth, a hippie who believes in free love until he meets Aniston's character, Linda.

The whole cast is extremely funny, and while things go off the rails for Aniston's and Rudd's characters, they eventually realize how much they mean to each other and stay together. Although the financial and critical response to the movie was poor, it has become a cult classic through home media and streaming.

7 Waiting... Is A Raunchy Comedy That Tackles The Food Industry & Funny Friendships

waiting ryan reynolds

A comical and somewhat disturbing take on a popular restaurant chain and its employees, Waiting... explores the hilarity and gross exploits of youths in the food industry. Starring a young Ryan Reynolds, Justin Long, Luis Guzman, Anna Faris, and a host of other talented actors, Waiting... explained to the viewer why "you never mess with people who handle your food."

Some of the best parts of the movie are the "game" the workers play throughout their shifts and the relationships built with coworkers. Although it may be considered just another raunchy comedy about young people, Waiting... teaches the viewer to take chances and never stay at a job just because it's easy.

6 Adventures In Babysitting Is An 80's Classic That Combines Adolescence With Action

adventures in babysitting

While the 1980s were filled with a lot of great coming-of-age movies, Adventures In Babysitting is underrated and unfairly feels like an afterthought. Often compared to Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Back to the Future, and other 80s classics, Adventures in Babysitting combines the dangers of a big city with childish comedy.

Elisabeth Shue stars as Chris Parker, a 17-year-old girl who ends up babysitting instead of going out with her jock boyfriend for their anniversary. Thankfully, Chris answers the challenge of the big city, meets a nice guy, and gets everyone home safe.

5 Mystery, Alaska Combines Comedy With Hockey & Focuses On The Strength Of A Small Town

While there haven't been a large number of hockey movies, hits such as Slap Shot, The Mighty Ducks franchise, and Miracle are among the best sports movies of all time. Mystery, Alaska is a lesser-known great hockey film starring Russell Crowe, Burt Reynolds, and a slew of talented performers.

The small fictional town of Mystery, Alaska, is a cold and far away place, but its weekly Saturday hockey game is a city tradition. When a sports writer and old resident of Mystery shows back up in town, he promises a hockey game against the NHL's New York Rangers. Some tensions arise between Mystery residents, but the small town comes together to root for its underdog team and shows its hometown pride.

4 Mallrats Is An Underrated Kevin Smith Movie That Has Comedy, Romance, Action, & Comics

mallrats kevin smith

After the success of his first major movie, Clerks, director Kevin Smith looked to continue his success and was given a larger budget to get it done. Mallrats may not have been successful in the studio's eyes or even by some fans; however, it's still a wildly fun movie in a shopping mall.

Jason Lee steals the show as Brodie Bruce, a frequent mallrat with a love for comic books, Sega, and his girlfriend, Rene. There are multiple storylines throughout the film, including Ben Affleck's role as a pompous store manager and a complicated relationship between Jeremy London's T.S. and Claire Forlani's Brandi. The comedy is on point and any movie that features a meaty role for Stan "The Man" Lee is a success in any fanboy's mind.

3 Palm Springs Is A Hulu Original Movie That Used Comedy & Romance To Tell A Magical Story

Samberg and Milioti are shocked in Palm Springs

Hulu has made some decent original movies over the past few years; however, Palm Springs remains its best and most unique to date. Andy Samberg plays Nyles, a young wedding guest who accidentally gets caught in a time loop and relives the same day over and over again.

Nyles and Sarah end up bonding with each other and end up realizing they love each other after constantly spending the same day together. The time loop storyline is interesting, and the comedy is stellar. However, the chemistry between Nyles, Sarah, and Roy is the movie's strength.

2 The Watch Features Comedy Genuises Stiller, Vaughn, & Hill Dealing With An Alien Invasion

Ben Stiller & Vince Vaughn in The Watch

While mega comedy hits such as Old School, Starsky & Hutch, Knocked Up, and Wedding Crashers dominated the mid to late 2000s, 2012s The Watch features similar comedy but adds science fiction. Starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and a strong lineup of comedic actors, The Watch has its typical Frat Pack comedy but throws a curveball by adding an alien invasion into the story.

The three leads are in the primes of the career and play so well off each other, improvising many of their lines throughout the film. Even though it wasn't a financial or critical success, The Watch is an easy viewing movie that will make almost anyone laugh.

1 Alien: Covenant Is Filled With Horrific Action & Is The Best Movie In The Franchise Since 1986's Aliens

alien covenant 2017

In 1979, Ridley Scott directed Alien, one of the greatest horror and science fiction movies ever made. James Cameron took the franchise in whole other direction with 1986s, Aliens, combining more action and war with horror and sci-fi. The franchise went off the rails with Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, which led to the even more absurd Alien vs. Predator crossover movies.

Scott returned to the franchise in the "prequel" Prometheus in 2012, which explored the creators of humanity and eventually the creation of the aliens. 2017s Alien: Covenant went back to the routes of the original Alien, adding more horror and new mythology to the franchise. Although it underperformed at the box office, Covenant is easily the best film in the franchise since Cameron's Aliens.
