Goosebumps, the famous book series by R.L. Stine, was given its own anthology show in 1995. Like his books, children were the target audience, and each episode starred tweens or young adults. Goosebumps is known for its supernatural elements, whether it involves the occult, the paranormal, or even murder.

Every episode from all four seasons is worth watching, but there are some stand-outs. The show was aired on Fox, and many of the more successful episodes were split into two parts, although their ratings were similar. Regardless of ratings, audiences really enjoyed this show.

10 The Ghost Next Door Storyline Is Plot Heavy (7.4, 7.5)

These two episodes were in the short-lived and final season 4 and featured the return of two actors who had both appeared on Goosebumps before. Hannah Fairchild meets her new neighbor Danny, and he is seemingly the only one able to see or hear her. She thinks Danny must be a ghost, but a newspaper article reveals it was her family that died in a fire.

A dark shadow has been following Hannah, and she needs to protect Danny before it's too late. Fans and critics praise this episode for being sentimental, even though it was somewhat predictable.

9 Scarecrow Walks At Midnight Varies From The Book (7.5)

"Scarecrow Walks at Midnight" follows Jodie and Mark as they visit their grandparents' farm for the first time in a year. It features a young Kris Lemche of Final Destination fame. This episode in particular varies a lot from its source material, the original Goosebumps book "The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight."

Instead of just one scarecrow in their grandparents' field, the pair notice they are surrounded by 12 menacing straw people. The crops don't look great, and neither do grandma and grandpa, leading Jodie and Mark to investigate just who, or what, is living on their family farm.

8 The Werewolf Of Fever Swamp Was So Scary It Had A Rating Change (7.5, 7.6)

This two-part episode is about Grady and Emily moving to Florida, where they instantly notice weird things going on around the swamp. They were given a 12+ rating in the UK due to implied and on-screen animal violence and supernatural threats.

Grady and his new friend, Will, get chased out of the swamp by a creep hermit. The boy also finds a dog whom he takes in, and it strangely resembles a wolf. Grady and his sister Emily begin to wonder if this dog could be related to the strange happenings in town. "The Werewolf Of Fever Swamp" storyline was the season finale of Goosebumps' first season.

Transported back to the Middle Ages, Sue and Eddie are seen as the Princess and Prince who are scheduled for execution. Like so many episodes of Goosebumps, this storyline features the return of several actors from previous episodes. Diego Matamoros plays the sorcerer Morgred, and also provided voiceover for "The Ghost Next Door."

Sue, Eddie, and their parents go on vacation to London and visit Terror Tower, a 15th-century prison and torture chamber turned museum. The siblings immediately see that something weird is going on, like the wax figures moving. They quickly get left behind by the group, and all of a sudden, they can't remember their parents. Appropriately, the closing credits feature a medieval rendition of the classic Goosebumps theme.

6 The Haunted Mask II Brought Back A Fan Favorite Monster (7.8, 7.6)

"The Haunted Mask II" follows the same characters as the first, Carly Beth, and Steve. After Carly Beth escapes the influence of a cursed Halloween mask in the first episode, Steve decides that he wants one too and nearly falls victim to the same trap.

This episode is split into two parts, just like its predecessor, "The Haunted Mask." It presents the rare occurrence of the first part being more popular than the second. Typically, Part II would be the more exciting half because of the audience's need for closure, and the ending is more satisfying. In Part 2, it's up to Carly Beth and her friends to save Steve from the evil mask's spell.

Stay-Out-of-the-Basement-1[1] Cropped

"Stay Out of the Basement" is based on the second book written for the Goosebumps series, and it has the same name. The story follows Margaret and her brother Casey, who grow concerned when their dad starts spending all of his time in the basement.

Dr. Brewer says he's experimenting with plants, but whenever he comes upstairs, he is different from before he went down. Like the book it's based on, "Stay Out Of The Basement" features a bizarre plot that encompasses everything from malevolent vines to body doubles to a killer twist ending.

4 Welcome To Dead House Is A Fan Favorite (7.7, 7.8)

"Night of the Living Dummy II" is a one-part episode that follows the same plot as its predecessor, but with new characters. Amy's dad finds Slappy, a puppet the audience recognizes as the evil doll from Season 1. It's much more interesting this time, however, since Slappy is back with a vengeance he didn't have before.

When strange things start happening, the family blames Amy. She tells them it was Slappy who was playing pranks, but no one believes her. She needs to convince her family that he's evil before it's too late.

"Night of the Living Dummy III" is the most popular "Night of the Living Dummy" installation. This time, Slappy isn't alone; there are quite a few puppets living in the attic, ready to antagonize these episodes. Trina and Dan O'Dell think dummies are pretty cool, mainly since their dad used to be a ventriloquist. The two kids and their cousin, Zane, don't always get along, but they suddenly find themselves left alone in the house with the evil Slappy and his old friends.

1 The Haunted Mask Storyline Makes Up The First Two Episodes Ever (8.3, 8.3)

"The Haunted Mask" duo is the show's most popular pair of episodes. It follows Carly Beth, who acquires a spooky mask for her Halloween costume. Despite a shopkeeper's warnings, Carly Beth finds that the mask is cursed, and she is unable to remove it once she puts it on.

Viewers agree that it is the perfect adaptation of the book, but it would benefit from a bigger budget and a longer run-time. "The Haunted Mask" is easily the best episode in Goosebumps, providing everything fans came to love about the show.
