Genshin Impact captured players' attention with its open world and fun game mechanics, but a heavy draw were the numerous playable characters attainable through the game's Wish system. Wishes act like loot boxes, allowing players to unlock new characters and weapons. Each character has their own distinct backstory and personality, as well as an elemental designation. Players can create a team of up to four characters to use on their adventure, and each element can be combined with another to create compounding, devastating attacks.

When Genshin Impact players are choosing their team of four, they have a number of Cryo users to choose from. Each has their own special attacks and talents that give them boosts for HP regeneration or increasing DMG output or CRIT chance. All characters can be upgraded via Ascension using materials and Mora, the game's currency, to increase their attack power to the highest possible level. Characters also gain Talents with certain Ascension levels.
