The series focuses on Ataru Moroboshi, a high schooler who's randomly chosen to win a game of tag to save Earth from being conquered by an alien planet. This is where Ataru meets Lum, an alien with flight and electricity powers who's able to avoid all of Ataru's attempts to catch her. However, when Ataru mentions a marriage proposal he received from his childhood crush, he distracts Lum long enough to save the planet. Too bad he also winds up convincing Lum he's in love with her, leaving him stuck with an alien princess that's suddenly obsessed with him.

Ranma 1/2 was once one of the most popular anime in the world. The comedy-action series set the standard for gender bending anime, and provided yet more proof that Rumiko Takahashi is a genius. Ranma 1/2 focuses on the title character, Ranma Saotome, a master martial artist who just happened to fall into a cursed spring along with his father. Now, whenever Ranma is splashed with cold water, he turns into a girl, while his dad turns into a panda.

Ranma 1/2 is meant to be a fun action-comedy that provides just enough context for the various shenanigans from episode to episode. It's also one of the earliest examples of a long-runner, as the main TV series alone runs for over 160 episodes. Despite the length though, it's hard to get bored when every episode is such a hilarious, easy watch it feels like only a few minutes have gone by.

Mash also plans on becoming a "Divine Visionary," a being with the power to change society. Without magic, he should have a difficult road ahead of him, but Mash's incredible strength makes him capable of easily surpassing all but the most elite mages.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles blends various genres and feels like a parody of both Harry Potter and shonen anime. Like One Punch Man's Saitama, Mash can easily punch his way through most of the problems in his path. Unlike Saitama, Mash isn't in search of the next great fight, but peace... and his next creampuff. Mashle is easily one of the funniest series of the last decade, even while never short-changing it's surprisingly great combat scenes.

26 Zombieland Saga Combines Humor With Sharp Critique Of The Idol Industry

Hearing the name Zombieland Saga, the last thing people would suspect is a series about idols. The series focuses on a group of seven girls who've been revived as zombies by a music manager to create a new idol group. Building a music group is hard enough, but building one made entirely out of zombies provides challenges none of them could have foreseen.

Zombieland Saga is another masterpiece originating from the combination of Cygames and MAPPA working together. It combines priceless comedy with some biting critique of the idol industry. Though the idea of "zombie idols" would've worn out after a couple episodes, thanks to some excellent character writing, Zombieland Saga has been considered one of the classic series of the 2010s.

Lead male Tsuda quickly becomes the straight man to all the absurd antics of his fellow council members, who all have their own quirks to deal with.

Even by season two, the show is still good for a surprise laugh as the rest of the student council continues to find the most ridiculous things to talk about. Yet despite its raunchy humor, the series avoids the usual fanservice that comes with a series like this, making it a refreshing shift that viewers can come back to again and again.

KonoSuba is not just one of the greatest isekai anime, it's one of the best comedy series ever made. When Kazuma dies in embarrassing fashion, he's brought to the goddess of another world, Aqua. While mocking him, Aqua offers Kazuma any item he wants if he's willing to save a fantasy realm and from the Demon Lord. Irritated by Aqua's mocking, he asks for her to be transported to the world with him, and the two together have to find a way to defeat the Demon Lord if they ever want to go back to their homes.

KonoSuba works because it's a fantastic parody of all things isekai. Every character in the show is hilariously bad at their jobs, yet they're all endearing in their own manner. Funny as it is, the series never becomes mean-spirited, always knowing just how far is too far.

No matter how much he trains, his powers on Earth are still limited to human ability. When he's reincarnated as Cid Kagenou on a world with magic, he continues his training to become the strongest. The problem is, he's completely scatterbrained.

After saving a young girl during his training, Cid Kagenou makes up a group known as the Cult of Diabolos, claiming that he's fighting against their attempts to take over the world. Cid inadvertently forms a group known as Shadow Garden to fight them, only for Shadow Garden to wind up fighting a real version of the Cult of Diabolos.

Grades are everything in Assassination Classroom. At Kunigigaoka Middle School, Class 3-E sits at the bottom of the school, in an old building full of the "worst" the Middle School has to offer. It's there that the group meets Koro-Sensei, their homeroom teacher. A creature that resembles a literal talking octopus, Koro-Sensei has destroyed part of the moon and claims his next goal is blowing up planet Earth in a year.

Koro-Sensei has offered Earth one chance — allow him to teach the students of class 3-E, and they'll be allowed to discover his weaknesses and attempt to kill him. Despite the serious-sounding plot, Assassination Classroom spends more time being a comedy than being a battle manga. Even most of the attempts on Koro-Sensei's life are often more comedic than they are serious. Assassination Classroom is also one of the best anime under 100 episodes for fans that don't want to lose a lot of time to one show.

17 My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Offers A Romcom Outside The Norms

High school student Hachiman Hikigaya would prefer to avoid anything to do with "enjoying his youth" in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU. These two loners are forced to work together to help other students around the school, aided only by Hachiman's classmate Yui Yuigahama. A well-written romcom with characters that wouldn't typically be found in the average anime romantic comedy, SNAFU is one of the best in its genre.

A wonderful combination of drama and comedy, Shirobako follows this starry-eyed group of friends as they overcome challenges and learn that there's much more to the anime industry than they first believed. Beautifully animated and written, the series isn't just about making anime, or even the creative process, but the importance of never giving up on one's dream.

SKET Dance follows a trio of kids known as the SKET Brigade: Yusuke, Kazuyoshi, and Hime. Yusuke is the team leader, Kazuyoshi is the brains of the group, and Hime is technically the brawn. The group is best known as an organization anyone on campus can come to for help and they'll find a way to fix any problem.

SKET Dance has just enough twists and turns across its surprisingly long episode count to keep viewers invested. There's romance and new characters get developed as they come to the SKET Brigade with their problems. With such solid writing, it's no wonder the series remained a mainstay among comedy fans in the 2010s.

Little does he know this rivalry is destined to become something more as life joins this unlikely pair together over the years. Hi Score Girl is one part romantic comedy, one part trip down memory lane, and perfectly captures the feeling of camaraderie that came from facing off against a new opponent at an arcade.
