Cosplay comes in all shapes and sizes, from low-budget outfits to impressively crafted one-of-a-kind costumes. Just about every piece of media with a fanbase has a cohort of fans who try their best to create costumes that evoke their favorite characters. While the hobby is used to show reverence for already established stories and characters, the practice is an art form all on its own.RELATED: 10 Gotham City Sirens Cosplays That Look Just Like The DC ComicsIt's one thing to cosplay as characters with realistic clothes, like say Doctor Who, but it is an entirely different experience to translate a cartoon character into the real world.  The effect of cartoon cosplays can be both mesmerizing and deeply off-putting. With that in mind, here are some cartoon cosplays that are genuinely impressive in their accuracy.

10 Danny Phantom By KoujiAlone

This Danny Phantom cosplay by Deviant Art user KoujiAlone is a spitting image of the animated series.  The costume itself is well assembled and takes no liberties in terms of cartoon accuracy. What really ties the whole look together though is the white wig, which perfectly evokes the cartoonish size and shape of the original design.

The photography work also elevates the piece, between the green highlights on the figure's edges and of course the photoshopped ghost effect. KoujiAlone goes all out and it absolutely pays off.

9 Morty And Armothy By Gina Galinis

This Instagram user Gina Galinis (who goes by thesqueeesh) may have the greatest Morty cosplay. This costume beats out most other Morty cosplays for a few reasons. Firstly, choosing a variant Morty is already an outside-of-the-box idea, and the Armothy Morty from season three is a classic alternate look. Secondly, the giant mascot-type head shows full committed to cartoon accuracy.

It's unreal to see a screen accurate Morty in the real world. To see this cosplayer walking around a convention will surely make Rick And Morty fans look around the venue for any glowing green portals.

8 Dream Gary By Beebinch

Now this cosplay is a little obscure, but very accurate nonetheless. Dream Gary only shows up in a single episode of Spongebob Squarepants, but his appearance is unforgettable. Similarly, Instagram user beebinch's cosplay of Dream Gary is equally memorable.

Beebinch's specialty is making inventive cosplays out of cartoon characters. She never takes the easy route in terms of executing cosplays. Check out her Instagram page for a well of creativity.

7 Catwoman From Batman: The Animated Series By Yukilefay

There's plenty of interpretations of Catwoman's classic costume online, but Yukilefay's take on Batman: The Animated Series' version of the classic anti-hero is one that fans have to see to believe. It's hard to pull off any Catwoman cosplay, especially one based on an animated version.

This version of Catwoman is from one of the most well-received animated series' of all time, so it's hard to live up to. Luckily, Yukilefay's take on Catwoman lives up to expectations.

6 Goliath From Gargoyles By Knightmage

This is another cosplay that is pretty unbelievable. Knightmage has a variety of impressive cosplays on his Instagram page, but this is easily his coolest. Gargoyles (now on Disney Plus) is hands down one of the most epic animated TV series of all time. A cosplay of the show's main character deserves to be equally epic.

Knightmage's Goliath cosplay certainly evokes an appropriate amount of ancient power. What really sells this piece is the intimidating wings and shading on the costume. All of that paired with a tough pose makes for a great rendition of Goliath.

5 Huey And Riley From The Boondocks By Alem.worldwide

Now, this costume isn't the most extravagant, but it does look awesome. Instagram users alem.worldwide share their take on Huey and Riley from The Boondocks. Though it is a gender-bent cosplay, it does evoke the attitude and look of the cartoon characters.

A few qualities really sell this cosplay. Namely, the simple outfits and the subtle makeup really help sell this as a recognizable cosplay based on a pair of iconic cartoon characters.

4 Homer And Marge Photographed By Bygreenorg

Based in Russia, Instagram user bygreenorg is a photographer who's work consists primarily of photography done at various conventions. Among the best cosplays on the account is this incredible rendition of Homer and Marge from The Simpsons.

Cosplays of The Simpsons characters are always a little unsettling, mostly due to their unnatural yellow skin. This take is no exception. However, it stands above a lot of other renditions due to a few small details, such as Homer's can of Duff Beer and Marge's dense and vibrant blue pillar of hair.

3 Turanga Leela From Futurama By Holly Brooke

Futurama's character Leela is always caught up in some kind of relationship drama, but her no-nonsense personality is well conveyed by this awesome cosplay. This is a tough cosplay to pull off, as Leela's character design works a lot better in animation than it does is real life. That said, Holly Brooke's cosplay as Leela is easily the one that is most easy on the eyes (or eye).

Her gigantic cyclops eye could have been unsettling when brought into reality, but choosing a cartoony style makes it much more palatable. Props such as Planet Express Boxes, cans of Slurm, and a laser gun also add plant this cosplay firmly in the Futurama universe.

2 Ice King From Adventure Time By Twinzik

Twinzik are actually a pair of cosplayers who have done a ton of unbelievable work, each one more impressive than the last. Their combined effort helped realize this amazing rendition of the Ice King from Adventure Time. It is both impressive and off-putting.

Like a lot of their work, this cosplay uses both elaborate makeup, prosthetics, and wigs in order to adapt a cartoon character into the real world. They've done a couple of variations on The Ice King, but this is easily the most impressive as the cosplayer completely disappears into the character's costume.

1 Babs Bunny From Tiny Toons By Jaremi Cari

This cosplay by Jaremi Cari is both impressive and frightening. Cari does a wide range of costumes on his Instagram page, all of which are really impressive. His version of Babs Bunny though is on another level entirely.

While it wanders into the realm of the uncanny valley, there is no denying that this costume took some serious skill. It is just completely surreal to see a cartoon character this accurately portrayed in real life. Congratulation to Jaremi for turning a cute cartoon character into total nightmare-fuel. Well done!
