The last decade had a lot of great as well as horrid anime. We had an anime about a world controlled by guns that deem people a villain or a hero, as well as a story about a group of college kids who discovered time travel with a banana and a microwave.

It also happened to be the year where the isekai genre made its way into the mainstream of anime. With such a wide variety of anime to choose from, there also happened to be some excellent openings. We're selecting some of the best anime openings of this decade and ranking each one.

10 ANGEL BEATS! OPENING 1

The opening of Angel Beats!

The opening for Angel Beats was "My Soul, Your Beats" and Lia sang it.  It was produced by P.A. Works, an animation studio known for animating anime that will be sure to make you shed tears.

The gentle and soothing sound of Lia's voice, coupled with Kanade playing the piano, welcomes you to the world inside this anime, which is the afterlife. The title of the song itself also happens to be an easter egg you will only notice after finishing the anime.

9 FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD OPENING 1

Edward Elric with hands up

The first opening for Fullmetal Alchemist was "Again" and Yui sang it. What would this list be if this famed shounen anime's opening didn't make an appearance? Despite the original Full Metal Alchemist's opening not being bad, this one takes the cake for the best opening for many fans. Yui's powerful voice and the haunting depictions throughout the sequence mesh well together.

That isn't even to mention the superb animation from Bones. After watching the first series, which was lighter on the comedy, this being the first thing you see and hear will surely get you pumped for what's to come.

8 NARUTO SHIPPUDEN OPENING 16

The sixteenth opening for Naruto Shippuden was "Silhouette" and KANA-BOON sang it. Although this band has been releasing hit after hit in the music scene, this song made them well-known through the anime community. This song has also been dubbed the best Naruto Shippuden opening.

As the singer's high-pitched yet unique voice sings and the infectious beat flows through your ears, you can't help but nod along. The opening is also significant to the series, depicting Naruto running from child to teenager, showing Naruto and Sasuke working together for the first time in years, and finally hinting at the grim fate awaiting them.

7 GUILTY CROWN OPENING 1

The first opening for Guilty Crown was "My Dearest" and Supercell sang it. Whoever said a so-called bad anime can't have a good opening? This was perhaps one of the most underrated openings during this time because of the anime's reputation of being a mecha anime when it was mostly just a convoluted sci-fi romance.

Putting aside whether the story is good or not, the opening is fantastic. With composition from Ryo, a composer well-known for his Vocaloid songs such as World is Mine, and the powerhouse of a voice from Koeda, this song is sure to stay in your mind for years.

6 ATTACK ON TITAN OPENING 1

The first opening for Attack on Titan was "Feuerroter Pfeil und Bogen" and Linked Horizon sang it. It may have been eight years since the song's debut, but those who have heard it once will never be able to forget about it again. Although the series is praised for being great already, it wouldn't be odd to state that this opening and the song propelled its popularity even more.

With a sound that can only be described as epic, the opening depicts the main characters fighting against titans in a flashy way. Even after the series spawned more seasons, this opening cannot be defeated (and neither can the memes).

5 THE PROMISED NEVERLAND OPENING

The Promised Neverland cast.

The opening for The Promised Neverland was "touch off" and UVERworld sang it. Don't be put off by the grammatically incorrect song title. This song is guaranteed to get you up on your feet to sing along in horrid Japanese. The series made it's debut at the beginning of 2019 and left with an even bigger bang, being one of the rare occasions where the opening and ending were fantastic.

The performance of the song is one that will get you excited for the series, which is what an opening needs to do to get you intrigued. Along with the symbolism, this takes the #5 spot.

4 TOKYO GHOUL OPENING 1

The opening for Tokyo Ghoul was "Unravel" and TK from Ling tosite Sigure sang it. Do you remember a time where this anime wasn't well-know? Before anyone began singing "oshiete, oshite yo, sono shikumi wo"? This is a reminder of when it started. All jokes aside, the song is fitting for the ride you are going to experience watching this anime.

At the time, and to this day, Unravel is one of the most unique songs ever used for an anime. Coupled together with the singer's voice and the vivid visuals that show each character's kagune, it topped the list for the best opening of 2014 many times.

3 THE ANCIENT MAGUS' BRIDE OPENING 1

Chise & Elias

The opening for The Ancient Magus' Bride was "Here" and JUNNA sang it. Here is an opening you do not want to skip. Ever. Before anime openings were full of characters fighting or scenes mashed together like an AMV, we had artistic ones. That is the approach this anime took. The moment it plays, you are silenced by the powerful voice of JUNNA, who was only sixteen at the time.

The beautiful song, as well as the stunning and bright visuals, are sure to give you chills when you first hear it and every time after -- especially the full-length version.

2 DEMON SLAYER OPENING

Tanjiro and Nezuko back-to-back in the opening theme to Demon Slayer.

The opening for Demon Slayer was "Gurenge" and LiSA sang it. You saw the title of the article, so you must have been expecting to see this high on the list. We have the song sung by one of the most popular singers out there for the anime dubbed best anime of the year to take the #2 spot.

Gurenge is so good people didn't care that it was used throughout all 26 episodes. With its comic book-like visuals such as Tanjiro's water and Zenitsu's lightning being animated beautifully by ufotable as well as the intoxicating beat, you can't go wrong with this opening.

1 DOMESTIC GIRLFRIEND OPENING

Surprised? We have the opening for Domestic Girlfriend, "Crying for Rain" by Minami, to take the top spot. Don't judge an anime opening by its plot. This is perhaps one of the most powerfully sung songs in anime history, one sung so beautifully that the singer won an award for it. It gives you chills and sends waves of melancholy down your spine the moment you hear her begin the chorus. Despite the visuals people may say are lacking, it does not dwindle the effect of the music at all. Because of all of this, Crying for Rain takes the crown for the best anime opening of the decade.
