This Spring anime season is nowhere near as strong as the season before it, but that doesn't mean there aren't good series airing these days.

Last season had high-profile sequels and new series alike, with series like Jobless Reincarnation, Horimiya, Wonder Egg Priority, and SK8 The Infinity all finding their own fanbases that propelled them into anime legend. But this season has continuations like Fruits Basket, Moriarty the Patriot, and more. There's still no shortage of high-quality series and although fans might have to use multiple streaming services, it's worth the effort.

odd taxi

Odokawa is a forty-one-year-old Walrus that drives a taxi cab for a living. Though he seemingly just wants to get through the day, things get weird when the case of a missing girl starts pointing directly at him as a suspect.

Odd Taxi is one of the best new series that came with the Spring season, but the mystery often takes a backseat to the fascinating characterization of all the people that come through Odokawa’s life, as well as the social commentary on everything from capitalism to viral fame.

megalo-box-nomad

Megalo Box was one of the most popular series of 2018, so it’s no surprise its sequel is also a major hit. The first series saw Gearless Joe rise to become the top champion of Megalonia, something of a “happy” ending for the character.

The second season picks up seven years later, with an older Joe who’s tired and broken and only fights to make enough money to survive. Along the way, this version of Joe meets a man named Chief, who throws the fight against Joe to make some extra cash. Chief’s story causes Joe to become invested, pushing him to help out.

6 Moriarty the Patriot Season 2 Continues The Story Of Class Warfare, Courtesy Of Moriarty – 8.29

Moriarty the Patriot Sherlock Holmes Episode 6

The first season of this was pretty well-loved by the audience, so it’s unsurprising that the second season remains popular. The basic idea is that this version of Moriarty is obsessed with destroying the rigid class structure that comes with modern society. He helps people commit the perfect crime against the rich and powerful who abuse their power while allowing them to escape being involved.

It’s a fairly typical idea, turning the villain into the “hero,” but there aren’t going to be too many places where they turn long-time Holmes romantic interest, Irene Adler, into a cross-dressing James Bond, so perhaps this is worth a shot for fans of the Sherlock Holmes universe?

to your eternity fushi writing

To Your Eternity feels a lot like Kino’s Journey of the new decade. The story is about an immortal orb that comes to Earth and has the ability to take on the form of anything around it. Though it starts out taking on the form of inanimate objects, it eventually becomes a young boy exploring the tundra.

Gradually, the being begins to learn what it means to be human —to have wants, desires, and to come in contact with new people and cultures.

1 Fruits Basket: The Final Finishes The Story Of One Of The Classic Shojo Manga Of The 2000s – 8.86

Fruits Basket Hatori And Mayu

Fruits Basket was one of the most popular anime of the 2000s, and it’s no surprise that a well-done remake is doing just as amazingly. The remake aims to do a complete adaptation of the manga, as the original 2000s anime-only ran a short 26 episodes.

The remake has been running for three years now, gradually telling the story of the Souma Family, cursed to constantly return to one another because they’ve all been possessed by the spirits of the Zodiac, and Tooru Honda, who wants to free them from that curse. Entering its last season, Fruits Basket: The Final remains at the high level of quality its fans are accustomed to.
