Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, comic fans have been able to enjoy the adventures of the Avengers in a number of adaptations that have brought quite a few comic storylines to the big screen. Unfortunately, Marvel's powerful team of heroes hasn't always had the same treatment on the small screen over the years.

While individual members of the team have starred in their own series, the team itself has only starred in a little more than a handful of animated adaptations, with some failing to capture the essence of the team or its storylines. The best way to see which is the best is to compare and review every animated series starring the Avengers, based on their IMDb score.

Stars of Marvel's Disk Wars: The Avengers

Marvel has released quite a few anime adaptations of their characters over the years, including 2014's Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers. Iron Man helped invent the Digital Identity Securement Kit/DISKs which were meant to keep super-villains imprisoned, though the plan backfired and a number of Avengers were imprisoned on the DISKs instead.

It then fell to a group of young teens who were bonded to the DISKs to call on their heroes in battle as they attempted to gather the rest of the DISKs and keep them out of the hands of villains like Loki. The series was tied to a collectible game called Bachicombat that was more like Pogs than Pokémon, though the similarities remained and the show suffered from the odd premise.

5 The Avengers: United They Stand Is Widely Regarded As The Worst Adaptation - 5.5

Avengers United They Stand team

While Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers has a lower IMDb score, most fans would agree that it's actually The Avengers: United They Stand that takes the title of the worst animated adaptation of the heroic team. United They Stand first aired in 1999 on Fox Kids after the much more successful release of animated series like X-Men and Spider-Man.

However, United They Stand lacked the same level of quality and featured an odd assortment of characters that were led by Hank Pym/Ant-Man, with the most popular Avengers largely only appearing during the intro. The series also blatantly pushed a toy line as the Avengers received new armored costumes that were designed to fit the confusingly futuristic setting.

4 Marvel Future Avengers Brought Together A New Team Of Powerful Young Recruits - 5.8

2017's Marvel Future Avengers was an anime series that was recently released internationally thanks to Disney+ and followed three young teens who had been experimented on and trained by Hydra to become powerful new threats. However, they were rescued and taken in by the Avengers as new recruits and potential future Avengers.

The series explored the young heroes' new abilities and the secretive organization that led to their empowerment, while the second season introduced even more powered youth after the Terrigen Mists of the Inhumans were released around the world. Marvel Future Avengers isn't the highest-rated series but it did feature a solid premise with an original storyline that some fans enjoyed.

3 The Super Hero Squad Show Was A Kid-Friendly Reimagined Take On The Avengers - 6.1

While it wasn't technically a series that focused on the Avengers, The Super Hero Squad Show served as a re-imagination of the team that brought together more Marvel heroes than ever before into the renamed Super Hero Squad as they struggled to protect Heroville from the supervillains that threatened it.

The kid-friendly series featured most of the mainstays from the Avengers along with some members of the X-Men and Fantastic Four who were all combined into one team, and they all featured the same unique design style that emulated the Hasbro line of toys that inspired the youthful comedic take on The Avengers.

2 Avengers Assemble Was The Long-Running Animated Series For Young MCU Fans - 7.0

Team from Avengers Assemble

While fans had already found one of the best Avengers series ever (more on that soon) the success of the MCU's version of the heroes led to the release of a new series that redesigned the characters based on their cinematic counterparts. Avengers Assemble also changed to appeal to a younger audience, which led to one of the longest-running Avengers animated series.

Avengers Assemble featured a similar style as the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series and explored a number of comic-inspired storylines mixed with original stories and takes on the characters. The series ran for two seasons before rebranding each new season as The Avengers: Ultron RevolutionThe Avengers: Secret Wars and The Avengers: Black Panther's Quest.

1 The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Was Marvel's Best Animated Adaptation - 8.3

Roster from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

While cartoons like X-Men: The Animated Series may hold a lasting spot in most fans' hearts, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes stands tall as the best adaptation of the comic heroes due to its focus on the characters and the original storylines. EMH featured comics-accurate costumes that gave fans one of the only authentic Hawkeye costumes outside of the comics.

Earth's Mightiest Heroes began airing in 2010 as it first built up the team's members individually before bringing them together and adding new heroes along the way. The series also adapted comic storylines like "The Korvac Saga" and "Secret Invasion." EMH was unfortunately canceled after two seasons to make way for Avengers Assemble, which shares a loose connection to EMH.
