Holidays! Who doesn't love them? Covid-19 has resulted in a lot of people spending holidays inside, or at least less extravagantly, and that sucks! Thanks to games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, however, players are able to enjoy holidays in-game and in real-time!

This means that players are able to celebrate holidays at home or even celebrate with friends and loved ones through online play. There are countless holidays and events to celebrate in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, so it can be hard to know exactly which ones to be on the lookout for.

10 Valentine's Day: It's The Day For Love!

The day for love doesn't only exist in the real world, players can also experience all the chocolates, gifts and heart-shaped objects they like in-game on the 14th of February for an Animal Crossing Valentine's Day. On Valentine's Day, players will receive letters from their villagers, with thoughtful gifts attached. Players will be able to send their own letters and gifts to their favourite villagers as well, or maybe to all of them if they're feeling particularly generous. Some seasonal items that can be purchased for Valentine's Day include a Chocolate Heart that costs 1200 Bells and a Heart-Shaped Bouquet that costs 1200 Bells. Both of these seasonal items are available to purchase from the Nook Stop in residential services from the 1st of February until the 14th of February.

9 Halloween: Who Doesn't Love The Spooky Season?

Who doesn't love candy and scaring their friends? The Halloween holiday will occur on the 31st of October, and the event begins after 5 pm. Halloween in-game allows for players to dress up in spooky costumes, adorn face paint and scare their villagers into giving them candy. With the candy they collect, villagers will be able to find Jack, who will give them a free Reaction and a rundown of the event.

Once the player has scared a few of their villagers into giving them candy, they can give the candy to Jack, who in return, will give them spooky clothing, furniture pumpkin starts, and DIY recipes. If given lollipops, Jack will give more valuable gifts, such as a Spooky Wand DIY recipe or Spooky Carriage DIY recipe.

8 Toy Day: Did Somebody Say Presents?

'Tis the season... to give villagers toys! Toy Day is Christmas Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and is held on the 24th of December. On Toy Day, players can find Jingle, who's helping Santa deliver presents to villagers. If the player agrees to help Jingle, they'll reward them by giving out a Festive Wrapping Paper DIY recipe, which they'll need at least three of to start delivering presents to their villagers. For this, they'll need one of each colour of ornament, one blue, one red and one gold. These can be found on the island by shaking the trees until one falls. With three Festive Wrapping Paper, Jingle will give out a Toy Day Stocking and a Magic Bag to hold presents. Players can also exchange gifts with their villagers on Toy Day, and they can begin buying toys from Nooks Cranny from the 1st of December.

7 Festivale: Dance, Dance, Dance!

The Festivale is a Mardi Gras event that will occur on the 28th of February in-game and will allow villagers to enjoy a day of wearing Festivale-inspired outfits and dancing at the plaza. Pavé will ask the player to change into Festivale clothing when before asking them to collect Multi-coloured Feathers that are floating around on the island. With three of the same coloured Feather, Pavé will reward the player by giving them a piece of Festivale themed furniture. Players can also trade Feathers with their villagers. Villagers will want the colour they're wearing and will trade their Feathers with the player to get them.

6 Bunny Day: Hunt For Those Eggs!

Bunny Day is the Easter-themed holiday in Animal Crossing that occurs on April 17th and entails a day filled with egg hunting, Zipper the Bunny and Bunny Day DIY recipes! There are six types of Bunny Day eggs that players can collect, and to find them all they'll need a shovel, an axe, a fishing rod, and a slingshot. Players can also trade eggs they find with Zipper outside of residential services to receive different coloured eggs, as well as Bunny Day Baskets.

5 International Museum Day: Participate In Blathers' Stamp Rally!

International Museum Day is held in-game from the 18th of May to the 31st of May and allows players to participate in a Museum Stamp Ralley held by Blathers.

The stamp rally requires players to explore different parts of the museum to find and collect stamps that they can eventually give to Blathers to receive a reward for completing the rally. There are four rewards to collect, a Bug Plaque, a Fossil Plaque, an Art Plaque, and a Fish Plaque.

4 Turkey Day: Celebrate Thanksgiving With Franklin!

Turkey Day is a Thanksgiving holiday held in-game on the 25th of November, and the holiday allows players to collect ingredients, cook and celebrate Thanksgiving with their villagers. On Turkey Day, Franklin will begin preparing in the town square and players will need to find rare and specific ingredients for him. Once players have collected the necessary ingredients, Franklin will reward them with some Turkey Day DIY recipes. Franklin may also ask for a secret ingredient to finish the dish. The four Turkey Day recipes players will need to make are as follows: Clam Chowder, Pumpkin Pie, Gratin, and Fish Meuniere.

3 May Day: Can You Escape The Maze?

The May Day Holiday event occurs in-game from the 29th of April until the 1st of May, and it entails the player going to the airport and choosing the "Go On May Day Tour" option. The player will then be flown to a secret island only accessible on this holiday. From here, the player will have to complete a maze to be rewarded with treasure and the chance to speak to Rover. Once players have spoken to Rover, he will reward them with a special May Day prize.

2 New Year's Eve: Quick, It's Almost Time For The Countdown!

New Year's Eve can be celebrated in-game on the 31st of December, with the main event being the New Year's Countdown! The Countdown begins in the town plaza at the beginning of the day and will count down throughout the day. The official Countdown event will begin at 11 pm and will end at 2 am on the 1st of January.

Villagers will begin to arrive at the plaza from 11 pm onwards, as will Isabelle and Tom Nook. Players can ask Isabelle for a lightstick, as well as some Party Poppers from Tom Nook too! From 12 am to 2 pm, there will also be a fireworks show for players and their villagers to enjoy!

1 New Year's Day: Let's Start The New Year Right!

On January 1st, players will be able to start the year off in real life and in-game thanks to the New Year's Day Holiday. It's a fairly relaxed holiday, meaning that there aren't any real events or activities for the day, but there's still plenty to enjoy regardless. Isabelle will start the day by welcoming the player and the villagers into the New Year, and the sky will shine brighter than normal to signify the fresh start for the island. Players will also be able to claim 500 Nook Mile points from Residential Services to start the New Year off on the right foot! There will also be special Seasonal Items for sale from January 1st to January 15th, specific to each different region.
