Benedict Cumberbatch to Climb Guillermo del Toro's <i>Crimson Peak</i>

After plaguing Captain Kirk and company in Star Trek Into Darkness, Beneditct Cumberbatch's next stop will be the haunted world of Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Sherlock star has signed on to join Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) in the haunted-house film about a woman who begins to question her husband's true identity.

Crimson Peak was originally set up at Universal Pictures in 2008, with a script by del Toro and his Mimic writing partner Matthew Robbins. Now at Legendary Pictures, the project has been re-written by Wild Target's Lucinda Coxon and is expected to begin filming in February 2004.

At the moment del Toro is focusing on Pacific Rim, which opens July 12, DC Comics-based Dark Universe, and the FX adaptation of the vampire novels he co-wrote with Chuck Hogan, The Strain.
