Anyone wondering whether the producers of the BBC's hit Sherlock were serious with their tease of Victorian garb for the show's incoming Christmas special have a definitive answer.
Today Entertainment Weekly nabbed a new shot of star Benedict Cumberbatch on set sporting the famed deerstalker most commonly associated with Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary detective. While the author never explicitly put Holmes in the cap, early illustrations of the sleuth created the connection, which became famous when earlier Sherlock actor -- and, like Cumberbatch, champion British name-haver -- Basil Rathbone made the look an international icon.
The photo follows the confirmation of the late-2015 special, which was accompanied by a similarly Victorian picture of Sherlock's Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman) wearing a very classic Watsony mustache. A fourth season of the series is expected for 2016 but not yet confirmed.
