Bendis Teases Daredevil, Armor Wars, Brilliant & More in 2017

He may be wrapping his tenure as the guiding force behind Marvel Comics’ Guardians of the Galaxy, but even with that galactic-sized responsibility off his plate, 2017 is looking to be a stacked year for Brian Michael Bendis and the House of Ideas.

The writer spent some time putting together a post on his Tumblr, gathering art from past projects in order to provide readers with clues as to what the year ahead holds for his Marvel plans. “every year i put this hodge dodge of actual preview art and hints and teases of what is to come,” Bendis posted. “this year was hard because of SEEEEECRETS.”

None of this should come as a surprise, of course, since Bendis was readily open about having plenty of upcoming projects in the works when he discussed leaving GotG. That said, however, the teases he’s now providing, with the promise that there’s even more to come, indicate that he’s going to be a very, very busy man throughout the coming year and beyond.

Some of the clues are fairly obvious — or they appear to be, at least. Bends covers a few projects we’re already aware of, including the final chapters of his “Guardians of the Galaxy” run with art by Valerie Schiti, more “Powers” from him and co-creator Michael Avon Oeming, the romance between Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen which kicked off this week, and, of course, fresh developments in the world of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage (which may or may not include more Squirrel Girl: Super Nanny).

There are a few surprises as well, including an indication that he and Mark Bagley will return to their thought-cancelled Marvel Icon series “Brilliant,” a teased clash/crossover between his “Infamous” and “Invincible Iron Man” titles (possibly using the “Armor Wars” designation, as teased with a Skottie Young-illustrated cover image), and a follow up to the Ben Urich/Punisher/Daredevil story “End of Days.” The absence of “Scarlet” may be alarming to fans, but the writer assured readers that this is not meant to represent everything he’s got in the works.
