Bendis Debuts "Powers" TV Series Variant Cover

On Friday, Brian Michael Bendis debuted the photo variant cover for the first issue of the relaunched "Powers" series on Tumblr, featuring the stars of the television series' adaptation. The cover features Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward as homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, seen previously in a poster released at New York Comic-Con.

Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's superhero-crime series first launched at Image Comics before moving to Marvel Comics' Icon imprint in 2004. The comic book relaunch begins next year through Icon, and is tied to the live-action "Powers" adaptation debuting on the PlayStation Network.

In a November interview with CBR, Bendis said of the relaunch: "We're going to pick up in a place that's so different from where we've been in the past that new readers won't be lost. It's a legitimate new #1. Then older readers will be like "Whoa! What happened?" And that's the best stuff."

While no date has been announced, "Powers" is set to debut on the PlayStation Network this winter. The cast also includes Adam Godley as Captain Cross, Max Fowler as Krispin Stockley, Eddie Izzard as Wolfe, Noah Taylor as Johnny Royalle and Olesya Rulin as Calista.
