Benderspink, Benaroya Aim For Big Screen With 'Marksmen'

Marksmen is marching to theaters. Deadline reports the post-apocalyptic comic has been optioned by Benderspink from Benaroya.

Created by Benaroya Publishing and Pictures' Mike Benaroya, David Baxter and Dave Elliott and drawn by Javier Aranda, the comic is set in a dystopian future America ravaged by a civil war over oil. The comic, released in 2011 through Image, centers on Drake McCoy, a member of an elite guard known as the Marksmen that protects the residents of New San Diego.

The six-issue limited series featured McCoy going up against the religious zealots in the neighboring Lone Star State led by The Duke. Neither a screenwriter nor a director has been attached, but the film is said to be a potential tentpole for the companies.
