With the upcoming release of The Batman, the big screen will soon be graced with another cinematic take on the Dark Knight. Before Robert Pattinson puts on the cape and cowl, however, several actors had their own time as the hero. These include Christian Bale's version of Batman, as well as the somewhat controversial Ben Affleck incarnation. Many have debated the merits of each of these portrayals, but not as many have asked which one would win in a fight.

Though many might automatically give the fight to Affleck's version, there might be a few reasons why Bale's Batman would come out on top. These also include the types of threats that they've faced, as well as how they've gotten back up from fighting them. Thus, the many huge differences in these Dark Knights would certainly make for an interesting match-up if they ever came to blows.

Ben Affleck's Batman Has Fought Aliens and Gods

Batman In DCEU

Ben Affleck's version of Batman in the DC Extended Universe would seemingly take the fight for a variety of reasons. For one, this version of the character, much like the one from The Dark Knight Returns, had a bulkier and more muscular frame. This allowed him to not only take tons of damage from normal foes but also easily inflict it. His fighting style and tactics were much more brutal than ever shown on screen, with the iconic "warehouse fight" in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice showing how easily he would manhandle normal opponents.

On top of that, he survived "two" fights with Superman, though one of them involved Kryptonite. Even in his other bout with a resurrected Man of Steel, he managed to not die, even if the encounter made him wish he did. Though he posed no real threat to the monstrous abomination Doomsday, he was able to survive the monster's rampage. Beyond his own body, he also had tons of powerful gadgets that made him an even more formidable force to be reckoned with. These included a suit of durable armor, as well as a more lightweight version worn in Justice League that was resistant to the weapons of Apokolips. Thus, anything a normal human might throw his way would surely be shrugged off for this version of Batman.

Christian Bale's Batman Has Stealth on His Side

Christian Bale plays Batman in Nolan's trilogy

Christian Bale's version of Batman is no slouch in the durability department himself, having recovered in record time from a grueling spinal injury inflicted upon him by Bane. Given Bane's borderline superhuman strength, it would take something truly on the metahuman scale to permanently put this Batman down. He also wore armor that was itself bulkier than many Batman costumes, protecting him from bullets, tasers and most blows.

Another prominent factor in the Christopher Nolan-directed Dark Knight movies is that Batman was a bit more of an actual detective and master of shadows than Ben Affleck's Batman was ever shown to be. Thus, he would likely be able to bob and weave in and out of battle better than the more robust and upfront DCEU Batman. This would allow him to definitely get in some good blows, while gadgets such as the sticky bomb gun might allow him to take down the massive Batfleck from a distance. Another tool, though it might be one he's remiss to use against Batfleck, would be the Pneumatic Mangler. This metal shearing gadget from The Dark Knight could potentially make quick work of the DCEU Batman's armored costumes, leaving him more vulnerable than his opponent.

Which Batman Would Win the Day?

Even with these tools and abilities, however, the fight would likely see the DCEU Batman get the best of his Dark Knight Trilogy counterpart. For one, taking on Bane was definitely a challenge for Christian Bale's more realistic and grounded Batman, and the DCEU Batman would essentially pose the same threat. On top of that, if he employed his armored costumes, slowed down or not, that version of the hero would be able to initially tank most of whatever Bale's would throw at him.

And that's not even mentioning that the DCEU Batman is able to do all that does while being an older man. Even though Bruce Wayne is somewhat older in The Dark Knight Rises, he's still younger than Batfleck's worn down and beaten Dark Knight. Despite this age, he manages to survive along the rest of the Justice League against the assault of Parademons and Steppenwolf, a feat which the Nolanverse Batman likely could never boast. So, while he may not be the favored iteration in most fans' eyes, the odds are definitely in Affleck's Batman's favor in a fight against Bale's version.
