DC Extended Universe star Ben Affleck says his Batman scenes in The Flash were some of his favorite.

In an interview with the Herald Sun, Affleck addressed his role in The Flash, saying, "I have never said this -- this is hot off the presses -- but maybe my favorite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie. I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting -- different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character. Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn't work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, 'Wow -- I think I have finally figured it out.'"

Affleck made his debut as the Dark Knight in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which saw him facing off against Henry Cavill's Man of Steel. He later reprised his role for 2016's Suicide Squad and 2017's Justice League. However, following Justice League's failure at the box office, Affleck announced his departure from the DCEU. This also meant that he would not play the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves' The Batman, a film Affleck was once slated to direct, co-write and star in. Later, though, Affleck was confirmed as returning in The Flash. At this time, the extent of his role in the movie isn't totally clear.

Production on The Flash movie has been slow, with the project in various stages of development since the start of the DCEU. However, The Flash finally wrapped filming in Oct. 2021, making clear that the project will, in fact, finally see the light of day. Currently, plot synopses for The Flash indicate the movie will draw from 2011's Flashpoint crossover, by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert. In that story, Barry Allen/The Flash went back in time to safe his mother, resulting in major changes to the timeline and the New 52 re-launch.

Just what the DCEU will look like after The Flash isn't clear at this time. Earlier this month, a rumor claimed The Flash would erase Zack Snyder's DCEU films from continuity. However, Ezra Miller -- who plays The Flash -- reportedly debunked those rumors. Still, Affleck seems unlikely to play much of a role in the DCEU going forward, as there's are indications that Michael Keaton, who will also return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Flash, will appear in the upcoming Batgirl film.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash is slated for release on Nov. 4. In addition to those mentioned above, The Flash stars Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Michael Shannon as General Zodd and Kiersey Clemons as Iris West.
