Based on a viral YouTube video by Morgan Cooper, Bel-Air received a two-season order in September 2020. Speaking about his vision for the series in a recent interview, Cooper explained, "Because Bel-Air is a drama, we're able to really peel back the layers of these characters and themes in a way that you simply couldn't do 30 years ago in the half-hour sitcom format. We're able to go have tough conversations that challenge perspectives. At its core, Bel-Air is a celebration of the black experience through the perspective of a family."

The new cast details and character descriptions come on the heels of Bel-Air getting its first trailer, which depicted the new Will (Jabari Banks) dunking on his opponents during a game of street basketball and being pulled into a fight in what appeared to be a case of mistaken identity.

It was previously revealed the main cast of Bel-Air will also feature Adrian Holmes as Phillip Banks, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, Coco Jones as Hilary Banks, Akira Akbar as Ashley Banks, Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey, Jordan L. Jones as Jazz and Simone Joy Jones as Lisa.

Bel-Air premieres Feb. 13 on Peacock.
