Today, DC Comics released a special treat for "Before Watchmen" fans across the country. A digital version of the "New Frontiersman" newspaper has popped up at NewFrontiersman.net featuring articles by Editor Hector Godfrey, writer Seymour Smith and Op-Ed columnist Doug Roth. The articles, entrenched in the 1977 universe of "Watchmen," serve as a piece of viral marketing that has extended to the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, where paper copies of the 1977-vintage newsletter are being given out at the DC booth.

However, online readers get tidbits the print readers simply will not find on their physical copies. Hidden in the body of the New Frontiersman online edition are highlighted words leading to various "Before Watchmen" bonus material and links. While some go to DC's Twitter and Facebook accounts, others (contained in "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes?" or "Who Watches the Watchmen" in Latin) lead to redacted script fragments of "Before Watchmen," an Instagram-like shot of Rorschach, the Wikipedia entry to "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes" and a snapshot of a mysterious "Before Watchmen" binder. While no real details have been given out on the New Frontiersman website yet, DC revealed during today's All Access "Before Watchmen" panel that there would be more extras to come via the ongoing viral campaign, including the reveal of the only black and white pages DC will release before the series drops.

Stay tuned to CBR for more on "Before Watchmen."
