Beastars rolled out to the anime scene late last year and has had viewers buzzing ever since. Featuring a cast of anthropomorphic animals, Beastars has made its mark by telling a new type of story, in stunning 3D animation, that may or may not be a commentary on human life.
Each character in the anime is so unique it can be hard to narrow down a favorite. Viewers can pick and choose who they root for based on their favorite animal, which side they are on (herbivores or carnivores) or now by their Zodiac counterpart.
12 Aries: Kai
Aries are normally known for their positive qualities such as their confidence and their determination, but they also have negative qualities that define the sign. Kai manages to embody both sides of an Aries when it comes to the Drama Club play.
At first, he's confident he deserves the role Tem left behind after his demise but that quickly turns to rage when Louis tells him it has already been filled. The short-tempered nature of the Aries sign jumps out when Kai doesn't get his way.
11 Taurus: Juno
Juno is a character who can fit many signs, but the clear one that fits her best is Taurus. Taurus is known for being stubborn and possessive. When Juno made up her mind to pursue Legoshi, there was no telling her differently. She became ruthless is her pursuit, even confronting Haru and Louis. Her eye is on the prize and that prize is Legoshi.
Juno also has a tender and loyal side, as Taurus does. She wants to make sure Legoshi knows exactly how ready she is to be loyal to him.
10 Gemini: Gohin
Gemini's can be unpredictable due to their dual-sided nature which makes Gohin a clear choice for the sign. Gohin has an extremely tough exterior. He is buff and has visible scars from a past that viewers don't know about. When Gohin is first introduced, he's kidnapping Legoshi and showing off how powerful he is.
But then, we see a softer side of Gohin. When he starts getting to know Legoshi, the caring characteristics of Gemini are displayed. He combines his tough and soft side to help Legoshi rescue Haru.
9 Cancer: Jack
Cancers are known for their big hearts so it's no secret the most loving and loyal character of Beastars that fits this description is Jack! Jack is Legoshi's best friend and that might even be putting lightly. Jack has been Legoshi's longest friend and always looks out for him. Around others, he's joyful and fun.
Jack also embodies the sympathetic nature of a Cancer. Even though he doesn't know exactly what Legoshi is going through, he offers a listening ear and thoughtful advice.
8 Leo: Louis
What can't be said about Louis? He's intense about Drama Club and his lead role to the point of ignoring a broken leg. He likes being admired and sought out after. He's confident and he wants to be the King of the Jungle, or in this case, the Beastar of the Cherryton Academy. All traits point to Leo.
Leos are natural leaders so it's easy for them to gain a following, as Louis does at Cherryton. Louis knows who he is and works hard to maintain his standing, even if it comes to cost him his health.
7 Virgo: Legom
Legom's one side story was all that was needed to know that she is a Virgo. Virgos are known for their desire for perfection. They will stop at nothing to make sure everything they touch turns into gold. The downside to this is that they can overexert themselves trying to do be perfect.
In Beastars, Legom knows her eggs are the best. She prides herself on making sure they remain that way by eating healthy, exercising, and keeping up a certain lifestyle.
6 Libra: Tem
Due to his untimely murder in episode one of the anime, what viewers learn about Tem come about from second-hand accounts from his peers. With those accounts, it's obvious Tem was a Libra.
Tem was sociable enough to have friends that were carnivores and herbivores, which makes sense since Libra's often act as mediators between groups. He was outgoing enough to have a coveted role in the Drama Club's play. He was mourned deeply because of how kind and fair he was.
5 Scorpio: Mizuchi
The classic mean girl of Cherryton Academy is without a doubt a Scorpio. Our first introduction to Mizuchi is her bullying Haru due to her jealously. In true Scorpio fashion, Mizuchi is possessive over her boyfriend. She doesn't hold back when it comes to making Haru's life a living nightmare for having crossed her.
Despite Mizuchi representing most of the negative qualities of a Scorpio, it can be said that her jealousy is a sign of how deeply she cares for her boyfriend. Or maybe more how deeply she cares about the status both of them achieve together since they are endangered harlequin rabbits.
4 Sagittarius: Els
As one of the first characters viewers are introduced to, Els is able to show off her personality based on her actions. When Tem is murdered, she is on high alert and believes her intuition that Legoshi is responsible. Granted, her intuition was wrong and she misjudged Legoshi, but following her gut is a very Sagittarius thing to do.
Sagittarius operates on a "feeling" basis, trusting themselves above anything else. They are open-hearted and honest. When Els realizes she was wrong about Legoshi, she accepts responsibility and apologizes.
3 Capricorn: Bill
With Bill's determination and drive, there is no sign better suited for him than Capricorn. Capricorn's are notorious for always finding a way to get what they want, no matter the consequences. When Bill is given the opportunity to step into the lead role in the Drama Club play, he completely transforms and is focused on being the best star there is.
Bill's attitude about being a carnivore is also reminiscent of Capricorn traits. He's proud of who he is and believes in following the natural rule of carnivores.
2 Aquarius: Haru
Aquarius is known for its blunt, aloof nature. They care about friends and loved ones, but romantically they can seem cold. For this reason, Haru seems to perfectly personify an Aquarius. She is super honest when it comes to what's on her mind, even if it is not conventional or convenient to who is listening. She is also quick to connect sexually, she does not connect emotionally to anyone.
Haru is unapologetic in who she is, even if it means she doesn't have many friends. Similarly, Aquarius' are known for being independent, free spirits, who follow the beat of their own drums.
1 Pisces: Legoshi
As the star of Beastars, Legoshi is overwhelmingly shy and to himself. In an effort to appear less menacing, he slouches and tries to draw little attention to himself. On the outside, he's quiet, meanwhile inside his head lives a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. Despite his appearance, he's gentle and kind. All of these qualities make him a Pisces.
Pisces are famous for their gentle nature and compassion but it can be a double-edged sword because they can care too much. Pisces feel things very deeply and as a result and be fearful or see themselves as victims.
