The Beast is one of the five original X-Men. He's been through a lot of changes over the years, starting out as a regular looking person with large hands and feet to the more bestial look that people are used to nowadays. He was always a unique juxtaposition- an erudite man of science who looked like a beast and constantly joked around.

He was also the first member of the X-Men to join the Avengers, meeting a character who would become one of his best friends- Wonder Man- and proving that he was ready for the big leagues. While he hasn't been an Avenger in a while, the argument can be made that he is better on that team. Which team does Beast belong with- the Avengers or the X-Men?

10 Avengers: They Could Use Some Mutant Representation

Right now, the X-Men and mutants are in a very different place than they've ever been before. They have their own country and they are a world power. While it's given them power they've never had before, it's also made them scarier in a lot of ways.

A mutant on the Avengers would go a long towards easing the minds of the public and the heroes; the perfect mutant for that would be Beast. He has a good prior relationship with the team and unlike someone like Wolverine, he's one of the nice mutants- he looks scary but he's not one of the ones who kills people.

9 X-Men: He Has An Important Job

X-Force Beast feature

Right now, Beast is working with X-Force, the Krakoan equivalent of the CIA. He plans out the missions with Sage's help and sends the team to care of them, picking the most dangerous threats to mutants and assembling the perfect team to deal with them.

This is a very important job and while it's arguable whether he's good at it (he's already had at least one major screw-up), finding a replacement isn't easy, and losing his experience would hurt the group.

8 Avengers: He Doesn't Screw Up As Much When He's An Avenger

While Beast has made some mistakes as an Avenger (his time in the New Avengers Illuminati group wasn't great), he hasn't made nearly as many as when he's with the X-Men. In fact, it feels like for the last decade or so, creators have been highlighting just how bad of an X-Man Beast is.

In the Avengers, Beast has people who will tell him, for example, not to bring past versions of the team to the present, endangering the timeline. Beast needs supervision and the Avengers are better for him in that regard.

7 X-Men: He's A Mutant Biologist

While Beast has learned a lot over the years, his main field of study has been biology, with a focus on biology-related to mutants. Right now, with pretty much the entire mutant race gathered in one place, Krakoa and the X-Men are a perfect place for a man of his talents.

Not only is there so much to learn and study but there's bound to be new problems and diseases that could use someone with skills like Beast. If he left, he would be missing out on one of the things he loves the most- science.

6 Avengers: A Change Of Pace

Beast has been with the X-Men pretty much exclusively except for a few stints of dual membership with the Secret Avengers and the New Avengers, as well as spending some time with the Inhumans when they were feuding with mutants, for a while now.

Going to the Avengers full time would give Beast a change of pace. The Avengers and the X-Men do entirely different things, especially lately, and being an Avenger gives Beast all new situations to use his skills in.

5 X-Men: All Hands On Deck

Right now is a very fragile time for mutants. While they have more power and safety than they've ever had before, they also have a target on them as they've never had before, especially with the pretty callous way Xavier and Magneto have been acting towards everybody.

This isn't the time for an important mutant like Beast to go away and hang out with his old friends in the Avengers. In fact, even being on the team could paint the rest of them in a bad light precisely because of the actions of the Krakoan leadership.

4 Avengers: Wonder Man

Beast and Wonder Man, who would be a welcome MCU addition, were very different men- one an actor and the other scientist- they hit it off amazingly. The two men had similar senses of humor and bonded over that, becoming the best of friends.

However, they haven't spent a lot of time together in recent years and Beast rejoining the Avengers would be a perfect time to reunite the two heroes. Both men have changed a lot over the years and it would be great to see them get reacquainted.

3 X-Men: Like Family

Beast and the X-Men Cropped

The Beast's parents didn't react very well to his mutation, kicking him out of the house and disowning him. The X-Men took the place of his family, especially with him being an original member, and it's with the team that he forged a new life, finding love and acceptance that was missing before.

Without the X-Men, Beast's life would be very different. They've given him a purpose and a place in the world. While leaving them every now and again is okay, Beast belongs with his family and that's the X-Men.

2 Avengers: The Family He Chose

Avengers

Circumstances put Beast and the X-Men together. However, he chose to become an Avenger and that means a lot. Every person has a family and family is important but that doesn't mean that one has to or even should stay with their family forever.

The only way to grow is to go and do new things and the Avengers allow Beast the ability to do that. It would be a huge waste for him to just stay with the X-Men forever and he knows that which is why he joined the Avengers in the first place and why he should go back.

1 X-Men: He Always Comes Back

Beast X-Men Legacy Virus

Beast has been on a number of other teams over the years, yet he always comes back to the X-Men. He knows that sometimes a change of pace is good but he also knows that home is where the heart is and Beast's heart lies with the X-Men.

If it didn't, he wouldn't always go back to the team. Beast has fit in well pretty much everywhere he's gone over the years but he's an X-Man at heart, so he always ends up back with the team. It's where he feels like he belongs.
