BBC America's 'The Last Kingdom' Goes to War in This Violent Clip

BBC America has debuted a violent, and potentially spoiler-ish, clip from the upcoming historical drama "The Last Kingdom."

Based on Bernard Cornwell’s “Saxon Stories” bestselling book series, the eight-episode series combines fact and fiction to tell the story of Alfred the Great’s efforts in the late ninth century to unite the separate kingdoms into what would become England. The drama follows a young warrior and outsider named Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon of "American Horror Story") as he attempts to reclaim his birthright.

Premiering Saturday on BBC America, "The Last Kingdom" also stars Rutger Hauer, David Dawson, Matthew Macfadyen, Jason Flemyng, Alec Newman and Emily Cox.
