BBC America's Doctor Who Trailer Sports Different Tone, Footage

BBC America has debuted its own trailer for the sixth season of Doctor Who that's not nearly as creepy, nor quite as epic, as the BBC version. However, it features a lot of new footage, including several glimpses of season-premiere guest star Mark Sheppard (Supernatural, Battlestar Galactica).

Doctor Who returns at 9 p.m. ET/PT April 23 with "The Impossible Astronaut," in which the Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companions Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) receive a secret summons that takes them from the Utah desert to the Oval Office in 1969. The two-part season premiere, which continues the following week in "Day of the Moon," marks the first time the sci-fi series has filmed on location in the United States. Alex Kingston also reprises her role as the enigmatic River Song.
