Bautista Confirms, He and Gunn Have Talked About The Suicide Squad

According to Dave Bautista, he and James Gunn have talked about the actor appearing in the upcoming Suicide Squad reboot.

Bautista was very outspoken in his support for Gunn after Disney fired the director. The firing was due to past social media posts made by Gunn that some deemed inappropriate. Gunn has since been rehired by Disney to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, though, for a while, the future of the film seemed uncertain.

The Hollywood Reporter asked Bautista if he and Gunn had any conversations about The Suicide Squad during this period of uncertainty, to which he replied, "We did. (Laughs.) Yeah, we did." The actor didn't go into further details about their conversation.

Bautista recently announced that he would be retiring from the WWE, with his final appearance being in WrestleMania 35. Bautista's acting career has taken off since his first appearance as Drax the Destroyer in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy.

This year, the actor has already appeared in Avengers: Endgame and will star alongside Kumail Nanjiani in the action comedy Stuber. He is also set to appear in My Spy, the upcoming Dune remake and Netflix's Army of the Dead.

Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters Aug. 6, 2021.
