SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major stories for "The Rabbit Hole," the latest episode of Batwoman.

Alice isn't the only villain lurking in Kate Kane's midst. "The Rabbit Hole," the latest episode of Batwoman, revealed Jacob Kane's wife Catherine has some devious machinations herself.

As the episode drew to a close, Kate told Luke Fox about her confrontation with Alice. "Alice said her thugs didn't jump me, which means there is someone else who doesn't want me knowing the truth about the DNA on the knife," Kate explained, referring to an incident from the series premiere.

The truth became evident when the episode cut to Catherine, who sat in a public park next to a man in a yellow shirt. She surreptitiously passed him Alice's knife -- the same knife covered in DNA that could verify Alice as Jacob's daughter. It is unclear how she came to possess the knife, but she quickly revealed her intentions for it. "Get rid of it," she said.

"I'm going to melt it into a paperweight," the man agreed.

"Destroy the masks while you're at it," she added, confirming that her people disguised themselves as Wonderland Gang members to attack Kate. "I'll take care of whatever surveillance was in the garage."

"Like it never happened," he pitched in.

At the time of writing, Catherine's goals are unclear. However, part of her plan is to keep Jacob from learning that Alice is his daughter Beth, who he has long believed dead. She may believe that Jacob would go easy on Alice or let her go if he discovered the truth. After all, her role in the series premiere made clear that she has vigilante-free plans for Gotham's future.

Since Kate is now trying to prove to Jacob and the world that Alice is her sister, this puts the rising Batwoman into direct conflict with Catherine, though she doesn't know it yet. Worse yet, Kate shared her suspicions about Alice's true identity with her father and step-family at the start of the episode, which means Catherine is at least one step ahead of her. As one of Gotham's elite citizens and someone close to Kate's father, Catherine should pose a formidable threat.

Written by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
