The cast of The CW's Batwoman celebrated their first few days of shooting with two behind-the-scenes videos posted to the show’s official Twitter account. One video shows costars Nicole Kang (Mary Hamilton) and Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox) in the makeup trailer, who both introduce themselves by their respective character names. The video then cuts to them on set. "We're safe, we're distanced, people are wearing masks, everything's fine!" said Johnson.

The second video was filmed by new addition to the cast, Javicia Leslie. Recorded from her trailer, Leslie gave fans a taste of the "morning ritual" she does every day before work begins, which involved dancing, praying and meditating. All of this is done as she attempts to not be distracted by her dog, Juda Buddha.

Batwoman’s first day of filming was Sept. 3, but Leslie's first day began on Sept. 4. Showrunner Caroline Dries recently shared a Tweet expressing her support for the cast and crew. "Tomorrow we start filming season two of Batwoman," she said. "I’m so proud to be part of such a talented group of people." Season 2 is set to air on The CW in 2021.

Season 1 of Batwoman starred Ruby Rose as Kate Kane/Batwoman. However, Rose chose to leave the role in May, citing an on-set injury as the reason, after she had sufficient time to think about her future on the show during COVID-19 related self-isolation.

Instead of recasting Kate Kane, Batwoman introduced an entirely new character to take up the role of the Scarlet Knight. Javicia Leslie will now star as Ryan Wilder after auditioning for the role via Zoom video conference. Her addition to the cast was revealed during DC FanDome in August.

Returning to The CW in January 2021, Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott and Nicole Kang.
