Batwoman Season 3 is looking to add three new characters to its cast, including Renee Montoya.

According to The Illuminerdi, The CW series is looking to cast a Latinx or Afro-Latinx actor in her 30s for the series regular role. A former Gotham City Police Department (GCPD) officer who left the department due to GCPD mistreatment of Gotham's marginalized citizens, Montoya is now a paper-pusher in charge of the "freaks division" at the mayor's office. She is dedicated to cleaning up Gotham's streets the "right way."

The superhero drama is also casting Jada Jet, a Black woman in her late forties to early fifties and CEO of Jet Industries. In her younger years, she was forced to give up her first child, which has made her exceptionally protective of her son, Marquis.

Marquis is described as a "sexy playboy" who grew up in a life of luxury. However, underneath that charm is a hidden trauma from an encounter with one of Batman's enemies. This left him forever changed, and he now finds delight in the suffering and terror of others, something that his mother desperately tries to keep in check. Like Montoya, both Jada and Marquis will be series regulars.

Created by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Mitch Brian, Renee Montoya first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series as beat cop. However, she eventually made her way into the comics in Batman #475. Exposed as a lesbian, she resigns from the GCPD and eventually becomes the Question. Following the events of Convergence, she returned to the GCPD as Harvey Bullock's new partner. Her previous live-action portrayals include Victoria Cartagena in Gotham and Rosie Perez in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

Montoya is the latest high-profile Batman character to appear on Batwoman. Season 1 saw the introduction of  Tommy Elliot / Hush, who eventually took the appearance of Bruce Wayne. Season 2 brought Roman Sionis / Black Mask, Victor Zsasz and Stephanie Brown to the Arrowverse, while also turning Camrus Johnson's Luke Fox into the hero Batwing.

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton. Season 3 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
