Though it's had its fair share of rocky roads, the CW's Batwoman TV series has managed to get a third season, which will soon arrive on the network. After changing the woman behind the cowl in more ways than one, Batwoman is now set to further explore its version of Gotham City. Season 3 of Batwoman will see Ryan Wilder further cement herself as the titular Caped Crusader, being surrounded by friends and allies as they tackle familiar Gotham foes. It will also pick up from many of the major plot points introduced in the show's Season 2, namely its season finale.

Here's a look at when Batwoman will be returning to the CW and what viewers should be looking forward to when it happens.

When Batwoman Season 3 Releases - and Where to Watch It

Killer Croc and Batwoman

Season 3 of Batwoman was officially announced back in February of this year, not long after the show had begun its second season. Filming began during the summer on July 19, though it's still ongoing and won't be completed until right before Christmas in December.

Those in a rush to watch the show won't have too much longer to wait, however, since Season 3 of Batwoman hits the CW on Oct. 13. It will thereafter continue to air on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and the episodes will subsequently be available on the CW app the following day.

Where Batwoman Season 2 Left Ryan Wilder & Gotham

Batwoman Season 2 Finale Poster

Most of Season 2 dealt with Ryan Wilder taking on the mantle of Batwoman while she and the first Batwoman's associates both fought to clean up Gotham City and also investigate the disappearance of Kate Kane. One villain they faced was the amnesiac Circe, who eventually betrayed them and stole several items that Batman had taken from his villains in the past.

Black Mask continued his reign of terror against Gotham City, causing a citywide blackout that led to untold panic. However, the citizens of Gotham were inspired by a message that Batwoman had left for them, all while Luke Fox began saving the city as Batwing. Kate Kane officially passed the torch of Batwoman to Ryan before leaving to search for her cousin Bruce once more, and Ryan also learned that her biological mother is still alive.

What to Expect From Batwoman Season 3

Batwoman Season 3 Features the Mad Hatter

Batwoman's Season 3 will pick up on the plot of the Bat-trophies seen in Season 2, as well as the revelations for Alice. This will strangely enough result in Alice helping the team out for a change, though her own agenda behind these actions remains to be seen. There will also be several classic Batman opponents introduced in the new season, including a grisly new Killer Croc and enemies such as the sultry Poison Ivy and even the Mad Hatter. The latter's presence particularly suggests interesting times ahead for Alice.

There won't just be enemies joining the show, but new allies for Batwoman and Batwing, as well. These include Renee Montoya, a character first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series, as well as Robin Givens as an original character named Jada Jet, who is the CEO mother of the impetuous Marquis Jet, played by Nick Creegan. It's unknown how some of these villains will relate to the Batman legacy or how the original characters will play out, but viewers will find out when Batwoman returns to Gotham City and the CW later this month.
