WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Batwoman's Season 2 finale, "Power," which aired Sunday on The CW.

According to showrunner Caroline Dries, Batwoman Season 3 will feature multiple classic Batman villains, along with new versions of the Caped Crusader's greatest enemies.

Batwoman's Season 2 finale, "Power," set the stage for this with its final scene, showing the various super-villain weapons Kate/Circe stole from the Batcave -- including, The Penguin's umbrella, Mad Hatter's hat and Poison Ivy's vines -- floating down Gotham River and washing up on shore.

"Obviously it's a pretty intense cliffhanger," Dries told Entertainment Weekly. "The tease we're making the audience is, 'These are loose out in the wild.' So anyone can literally come and pick them up."

However, it won't just be random Gothamites picking up those weapons in Season 3. Rather, Dries revealed it will be "a combination of people who come and pick them up and the villains themselves, and derivatives of those villains. So Batwoman definitely has a huge problem next season."

This will be a change of pace from Batwoman's first two seasons, which focused mainly on either villains who are traditionally associated more with Batwoman than Batman (Alice/Beth Kane, Safiyah Sohail) or relatively lesser-known antagonists who call Gotham home, including Victor Zsasz and Black Mask -- both of whom recently appeared on the big screen in 2020's Birds of Prey DC Extended Universe movie. All the same, Dries praised DC for being open to re-imagining more iconic members of the Caped Crusader's rogue gallery for the Arrowverse in Season 3.

"DC was so awesome about it because we're always looking, and as are they, for new ways of showing canon characters, and some of these characters have been done so many times that we're always looking for that new angle," said Dries. "In leading with the weapon first, which is always a big part of the rogues, it allows us way more freedom to kind of do something that we haven't seen before. There weren't really any obstacles."

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton. Season 3 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
