The CW has released a poster for Batwoman Season 2 that passes the baton -- and cowl -- to Javicia Leslie's Ryan Wilder, the new hero in the Arrowverse.

The new Batwoman poster was uploaded to the show's official Twitter account, along with a caption reading, "Heavy is the head that wears the cowl." The tweet also reaffirmed Batwoman Season 2 will air Sundays on The CW beginning Jan. 17, with episodes becoming available to steam for free the day after on The CW's app.

Batwoman Season 2 will kick-off by revealing Ruby Rose's Kate Kane has mysteriously vanished from Gotham City. Rose left the show earlier this year for multiple reasons, some of which were related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the effect it had on filming. Leslie was announced as the new Batwoman in July, with her character Ryan Wilder being described in the latest Season 2 synopsis as "a sassy, smart lesbian with a difficult past [who] sees the suit as her chance to finally be powerful and no longer a victim as she survives in the tough streets of the city."

The Batwoman Season 2 synopsis also hinted at how the show's returning supporting characters will respond the news of Kate's disappearance, including people like Kate's father Colonel Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and her stepsister Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang), along with Kate's ex-girlfriend Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). The first photos for Season 2 offered a glimpse of Kate's loved ones wondering where she's disappeared to and how to find her, with Colonel Kane going so far as to turn on the Bat-Signal. Another photo showed Sophie reading a letter that, judging by her expression, may be from Kate explaining why she left.

Meanwhile, Kate's sister Alice (Rachel Skarsten) is still at large in Gotham City, the villain Safiyah (Shivaani Ghai) has resurfaced "with plans for revenge," and the False Face Society is distributing a dangerous new drug called Snakebite on the streets of Gotham. The first Batwoman Season 2 photos also provided a sneak peek of Tommy Elliot/Hush disguised as Bruce Wayne (Warren Christie), which allows him to gain access to Wayne Tower to try and steal the Kryptonite Shard -- which can damage the Batsuit -- that's stored in the Batcave, along with all the other Bat-gadgets.

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott and Nicole Kang. Season 2 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
