A new clip from Batwoman's Season 2 premiere debuted online, introducing Ryan Wilder's parole officer and displaying the hero's frustration at being homeless.

In the newly released clip from The CW, Ryan confides in her parole officer that she "stumble[ed] upon something pretty sick," referring to her discovery of Kate Kane's Batwoman suit. However, her parole officer seems disappointed in not hearing of her finding employment. Wilder points out that nobody wants to rent a room or hire an ex-con.

Season 2, Episode 1's sneak peek clip also reveals to audiences that Ryan Wilder had a prior history of teaching martial arts before being erroneously charged with drug possession.

Within Season 2's premiere episode, Kane goes missing, which forces her family and friends -- as well as her sister-turned-foe Alice -- to deal with the fallout. Meanwhile, Wilder discovers Kane's Batsuit and takes up the mantle of Batwoman. She will also fight the serial killer Hush who has received plastic surgery to make him look like Bruce Wayne -- aka Batman.

Leslie was cast as the series lead after actor Ruby Rose departed the series. "I think some TV shows can get away with [recasting], but for us, it felt a little wonky," showrunner Caroline Dries previously said while discussing the show's shift to a new Batwoman. "So I decided, let’s continue the storyline but let’s introduce this new character who takes on the mantle of Batwoman, and maintain Kate Kane’s legacy on the show and create a mystery around where she went and lean into the challenge."

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott and Nicole Kang. Season 2 premieres on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
