Batwoman star Javicia Leslie believes her character, Ryan Wilder, will struggle to accept Batman's code while still harboring revenge against Alice.

"I believe it's going to be very hard for Ryan to stick to the no-kill code that Luke and Mary put on her as Batwoman," Leslie said in an interview with EW.

In Season 2, Episode 2, "Prior Criminal History," Luke and Mary supported Ryan's second foray as Batwoman, which ended with her facing Alice, who caused the death of Ryan's mother. However, Alice created a diversion -- sending a swarm of poisonous bats into a crowd -- that cost Ryan the opportunity to receive revenge.

"Is her battle against Alice going to be what defines her, or will she able to finally get past that and do what her journey and her future is supposed to be, which is to save people?" Leslie asked. "She says that all the time, that's what she wants to do. She wants to save the ones that no one else saves and she's needed for her community, so it's going to be really important that she figures out which one she's going to choose."

Ryan's choice to let Alice go and instead rescue the endangered civilians confirmed to her that she wants to be a hero. She received Luke's blessing but will struggle with his demand that she honor the no-killing rule. Leslie said, "I wonder if she might just do something as Ryan [instead of as] Batwoman because it is a separate thing."

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton-Kane. New episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
