SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major stories for "Who Are You?", the latest episode of Batwoman.

Batwoman just brought a significant piece of Batman's mythology to the forefront: Martha Wayne's necklace. In "Who Are You?", the latest episode, the necklace became the apple of Magpie's eye -- so much so that she turned it into a weapon to terrorize the city and make her grand escape.

Even since Batman disappeared from Gotham City, his mother's necklace has maintained a prominent position in Bruce Wayne's office. He kept it on his bookshelf, which served as an entry point to the Batcave. However, in this latest episode, Kate Kane decided to let a museum borrow her aunt's necklace for an exhibit about powerful women.

"The Museum of Antiquities is so grateful you're lending us Martha Wayne's necklace," the curator told Kate. "We cannot think of a better showpiece to represent strong women and pillars of their communities."

"She always loved your museum," Kate agreed.

Of course, this rare piece of jewelry soon caught the eye of Magpie, an up and coming thief who likes to steal from museums and millionaires. She soon broke into Wayne Tower and stole the necklace, knocking Luke out in the process. When Kate confronted him about it, he revealed just how much the necklace meant to Bruce.

"Bruce's mom was killed for that necklace," Kate lamented. Indeed, this pearl necklace is often depicted in comics and film, as Martha wore it the night she was murdered as part of a botched robbery.

"Yeah, he spent years looking for it in the streets," Luke recalled. "Finally found it in an auction and spent a million dollars buying it back."

"I have to get it back," she insisted, and that's exactly what she set out to do. She managed to track down Magpie's lair with some help from Luke and retrieved the necklace, but destroyed the hideout in the process. Soon, she learned the museum was moving forward with the exhibit with Martha' necklace at the forefront -- despite the fact Kate currently had it in her possession.

As it turns out, Magpie had 3D printed a replica of the famous Martha Wayne necklace. Worse, she had turned each pearl into an explosive. She detonated the explosives remotely to create a distraction, so that she could rob a nearby museum while Batwoman and the authorities dealt with this other emergency.

Kate soon caught wise to Magpie's plan. She managed to protect the innocent bystanders and capture Magpie, who turned out to be Margot, the museum curator's photographer. "People like you never notice people like me," she said. "Some of us don't have the privilege of sitting in our tower, having aches about what to do with our lives, Ms. Kane. We just do it to survive."

In response to Margot's parting words, Kate decided to launch her own real estate business, despite knowing nothing about the industry: "I want to buy rundown buildings from outside the Crows' districts, keep the rents low and give them back to the community." This was also inspired by Kate's date Reagan, who told her a story about how her mother's building got bought out and gentrified.
