WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Batwoman Season 2, Episode 16, "Rebirth," which aired Sunday on The CW.

The latest Batwoman promo has Ryan offering to return the Bat-suit to Kate Kane.

"The suit's hers. I was just keeping it warm for her," says Ryan, in light of Kate's return. The promo for Season 2, Episode 17, "Kane, Kate," also shows Roman Sionis/Black Mask rallying the False Face Society to unleash chaos upon Gotham City. "A storm is coming for Gotham," warns Safiyah.

Kate Kane was played by Ruby Rose in Batwoman Season 1, prior to her departure from the show. The first half of Season 2 kicked off with Kate disappearing after her plane crashed and gradually unraveled the mystery behind what happened, along the way introducing Ryan as her successor to the Batwoman mantle. It eventually came to light Kate was kidnapped by the vengeful Black Mask, who blamed Kate for the death of his daughter Circe -- a criminal who was killed trying to escape during a mass breakout at Arkham Asylum.

With more than a little assistance from Safiyah and Enigma, Black Mask brainwashed Kate into believing she was Circe and forced Alice to make her a new face to cover up the injuries she sustained during the crash, unaware the pair are sisters. However, Alice recognized Kate's eyes and recruited their father Jacob to rescue her. Batwoman recast Wallis Day to play Kate in the second half of Season 2, using her facial makeover to explain why she looks different in the show's universe.

Season 2, Episode 16, "Rebirth," saw Alice and Jacob partially succeed in restoring Kate's memories before being interrupted by the False Face Society. The episode concluded with Safiyah promising to explain everything to Kate, giving her the freedom to decide what she wants to do from here. For now, though, it's unclear whether Kate intends to become Batwoman again, fight by Ryan's side as part of the Bat-Team, or something else altogether.

Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder, Rachel Skarsten as Alice, Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson as Luke Fox, Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane, Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton-Kane and Wallis Day as Kate Kane. New episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
