The CW's Batwoman has received a full Season 1 order, with the network granting the DC series a back nine order. Joining Batwoman is fellow Freshman series Nancy Drew.
While it is rare for The CW to cancel a new series, the news of a back nine order shows the network's confidence in both Batwoman and Nancy Drew.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Batwoman has outperformed much of The CW lineup during its first season. Where Batwoman has made a significant impression is on digital streaming, with Batwoman gaining an 80% jump and Nancy Drew a 114% jump following Nielsen's live-plus-seven lifts.
This marks the first season that The CW has full streaming rights to all-new series. Before this year, The CW's streaming service would only store six or more episodes of a series. However, with the new arrangement, fans can catch up on their favorite season at any point within the season.
Helmed by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
