Batwoman's world continues to grow with the addition of another one of Kate Kane's allies, who also happens to be the daughter of Batman's butler Alfred.

The upcoming seventh episode of Batwoman, titled "Tell Me the Truth," will see the debut of Julia Pennyworth, played by Christina Wolfe. Wolfe is known for her recent role as Kathryn Davis in The Royals, from 2016 to 2018.

The official character description for Julia describes her as a "crafty and quick-witted British secret service agent," who "shares a complicated past with Kate Kane, which impedes her mission as the two set sights on the same target."

A promo for the episode features the series' titular heroine fighting a masked assailant who is revealed to be Julia. "Figured Alfred would've taught you better manners," says Batwoman. "Let's leave my father out of this," Julia replies.

Julia made her debut in Detective Comics #501 by Gerry Conway and Don Newton in 1981 as Julia Remarque. She was raised by a friend of her mother's and was unaware of her true parentage, but would eventually discover the truth.

The character was recently revamped for DC's New 52 continuity as an operative of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment, now sporting her father's last name. She first appeared as a silhouette in 2014's Batman #28 by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV and Dustin Nguyen, before making her formal debut in Batman Eternal #8 the same year. Julia went on to become a supporting character in 2018's ongoing Batwoman series, which ran from Mar. 2017 to Aug. 2018.

Created by Caroline Dries and developed by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, Batwoman stars Ruby Rose, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott, Elizabeth Anweis and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
