Batwoman star Camrus Johnson has refuted Ruby Rose's recent allegations regarding the on-set conditions of The CW's DC series.

On Twitter, Johnson stated that Rose was fired from Batwoman due to her on-set behavior. "Batfam ya know I couldn't go the whole day without saying something! I love y'all, don't think I haven't seen all the love today," Johnson wrote. "But yea fam, she was fired. And it is very hard to be fired when you're the lead. Imagine what [you] have to do for that [to] happen."

Johnson went on to accuse Rose of spreading "lies," writing, "Since it was claimed she 'walked away' last year I'm sure some of you may be pretty confused or upset, and even moreso [sic] that a lot of lies were spread today. Just know we have a lot of great souls working on this show and none of this changes that. From the top to the bottom."

Earlier this week, Rose took to Instagram to air grievances about her experience working on Batwoman, explaining that she was essentially forced out of the show and alleging unprofessional conduct on the part of the show's producers, unsafe working conditions and callousness regarding on-set injuries, as well as sexual harassment and other abuse towards women. Among those Rose named was former Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman Peter Roth, who she says threatened to throw her under the bus if she did not return to work only 10 days after being hospitalized with a broken neck. Rose went on to call out showrunner Caroline Dries and co-star Dougray Scott, as well as Bertalnti Productions' Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.

Johnson himself was also named in Rose's posts. More specifically, Rose referred to Johnson as an "egomaniac kid," claiming that he had passive aggressively chastised her for the "one time" she was late to set, noting that the only reason she was late was because she was in the hospital. Rose was apparently taken aback by the "audacity" of Johnson's alleged words, as she says that he "only worked one day a week."

The Warner Bros. Television Group itself has since responded to Rose's claims, saying in a statement, "Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned."

It was announced back in May 2020 that Rose was departing the role of Kate Kane/Batwoman following Batwoman Season 1. At the time, the actor explained, "This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles." The character of Ryan Wilder, played by Javicia Leslie, took up the Batwoman mantle in Season 2. The character of Kate Kane eventually returned to the show, played by Wallis Day.
