It looks as if the classic Batmobile may play role in director Todd Phillips' Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix.

The video, purportedly captured near the film's Newark, New Jersey, set, depicts a vehicle remarkably similar to the iconic Batmobile featured in the 1966 Batman television series being transported by truck.

With the film reportedly including Thomas Wayne in the cast, the appearance by the Batmobile suggests that either there will be a time jump somewhere in the narrative, or this is potentially a version of the Batman mythos in which Thomas Wayne is still alive in the heyday of the Caped Crusader.

There’s also the possibility that this was merely a remarkable coincidence. According to Screen Rant, the Batmobile in question may have actually been heading for a local car show, and just happened to pass near where Joker is being filmed.

Directed by Todd Philips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, and Bill Camp. The Warner Bros. film is targeted for release on Oct. 4, 2019.
