There are some fans who criticize Batman for his lack of superpowers, though it's clear by taking a look at his villains that he is more than capable of handling much more powerful characters even without the enhanced abilities of his teammates in the Justice League. 10 KGBeast Is A Cybernetically-Enhanced Assassin From The Soviet Era With A Weaponized Arm

Anatoli Knyazev was an assassin for the KGB known as The Beast that underwent cybernetic enhancements to improve his strength and reflexes, further increasing his threat level. He became known as the KGBeast in the western world and has faced Batman on a number of occasions.

He even turned the loss of his hand into an opportunity to further add to the arsenal at his disposal, and Batman's most successful method of dealing with KGBeast to date has been to lock him in an underground bunker to hopefully starve to death.

9 Deathstroke The Terminator Is An Enhanced Super-Soldier With Increased Strength And Agility

The DC universe is filled with a  number of well-trained hitmen and assassins, though none can compare to Slade Wilson/Deathstroke the Terminator. Wilson was experimented on during his time in the military in an attempt to create a super-soldier.

His physical strength and agility were increased to a near-superhuman level while his reactions and mental prowess were also increased exponentially. Deathstroke has been able to take on squads of Justice League members on his own and continually proves to be one of Batman's greatest challenges in a man-to-man fight.

8 Doctor Death Enhanced His Strength But Became A Victim Of His Own Bone-Hardening Experiment

One of the earliest criminals Batman ever dealt with was Dr. Karl Helfern, who transformed himself into a monster using his own bone-hardening experiment and became known as Doctor Death. The New 52 reboot of the character was especially dangerous, as his mutating form also increased his strength dramatically when he first encountered Batman in the "Zero Year" event.

Helfern's experiment was designed to allow bones to harden on impact to prevent broken bones and other trauma, though it led to his bones mutating his form with each new break, making him stronger but more deformed with every punch from Batman. His ongoing deformation ultimately led to Doctor Death's demise as his broken bones grew out of control.

7 Amygdala Was A Rage-Filled But Gentle Giant With Enhanced Strength And Incredible Durability

Aaron Helzinger was a powerfully strong man with mental instability that led to him being incarcerated at Arkham Asylum. Unfortunately, his rage-fueled condition was made exponentially worse when the Arkham doctors removed his amygdala in the hopes that this would ease his temperament. Instead, the operation only increased both his fits of rage and his strength.

Amygdala is easily manipulated due to his degrading mental health, but it only serves to make him more dangerous when he is directed against heroes like Batman. who struggle with hurting the vulnerable powerhouse.

6 Mr. Freeze Wears A Life-Supporting Cryo-Suit That Greatly Enhances His Strength And Durability

One of Batman's more tragic villains is also one of his most powerful, as Dr. Victor Fries was transformed in a laboratory experiment while he tried to cure his cryogenically-frozen wife. He became Mr. Freeze and was forced to wear a cryo-suit to sustain his body in his new condition.

The robotic suit increased his strength and durability which made him a physical threat, though he also outfitted himself with a cryo-gun that could instantly freeze his enemies to further elevate him to one of Batman's most dangerous villains.

5 Man-Bat Was Transformed By A Serum Into A Monstrous Flying Animal With Increased Strength

Dr. Kirk Langstrom is another of Batman's transformed villains, as he tested the experimental hearing serum he created on himself. However, the bat DNA in the serum resulted in a werewolf-like transformation and he became the winged monster known as Man-Bat.

While Langstrom was at times able to gain control of his more animalistic side while transformed, Man-Bat was largely a ferociously impulsive creature with incredible strength. The Man-Bat serum was later used by the League of Assassins to transform an entire army of well-trained ninja Man-Bats to further elevate the villain in Batman's rogues' gallery.

4 Killer Croc Has Continued To Progressively Mutate Into A Stronger Animalistic Crime Boss

When Waylon Jones first arrived in Gotham City, he was a hardened up-and-coming crime boss known as Killer Croc with a medical condition that hardened his skin as his primal animalistic genes began to mutate his body. Over the years his condition has progressively gotten worse and he has become larger and more reptilian.

His strength has also continued to increase along with his size over the years, and he has been the victim of genetic experimentation a few times that has led to further mutations that temporarily included a deadly and powerful tail.

3 Bane Used The Addictive Steroid Venom To Greatly Enhance His Already Impressive Strength

While the villain known only as Bane might immediately seem like he's only a muscled henchman, events like Knightfall and City of Bane have revealed that he's also a criminal mastermind with tactical skills that rival his arch-foe, Batman.

However, for years Bane used the addictive steroid known as venom to enhance his strength through an injection system tied to his brain. Bane used his strength to unforgettably break Batman when he beat him senselessly and broke his back before throwing him off a Gotham City rooftop to prove his new dominance over Gotham City.

2 Clayface Is Able To Transform His Body Into A Giant Monstrous Shape With Enhanced Strength

There have been a few different characters to use the name Clayface over the years, though the most powerful, like Basil Karlo and Matt Hagen, were capable of shape-shifting their body to both disguise themselves and create deadly weapons during battle.

Clayface was also able to increase his mass into his monstrous form that has become most associated with the character, which also increases his strength exponentially. Clayface is one of Batman's strongest villains, though the Dark Knight's experience fighting the villain has allowed him to create a number of counter-measures to the shape-shifting criminal.

The monstrous zombie known as Solomon Grundy has a few different origin stories, though the most common is a criminal named Cyrus Gold who was murdered in Slaughter Swamp before he was resurrected to fight a number of different heroes like the first Green Lantern and the JSA over the years.

Solomon Grundy's connection to Gotham City has made him a recurring problem for Batman, who has managed to build a tentative rapport with the creature due to Grundy's incredible and overwhelming strength. Batman does have a few tricks up his sleeve when needed to deal with Grundy's monstrous strength.
