While promoting the film at this year's Cannes Film Festival, Dafoe sat with Variety to discuss The Lighthouse and his other upcoming films. The actor also shared his thoughts on Pattinson's potential casting as Batman, saying, "He’s got a strong chin. That’s a part of it. Can you imagine anyone with a weak chin ever playing Batman? I don’t think so."

Pattinson hasn't been officially confirmed for the role of the Dark Knight, but most rumors claim he is the frontrunner. Originally, Ben Affleck was set to write and direct The Batman. Matt Reeves took over those duties after Affleck's departure.

Directed by Robert Eggers, The Lighthouse is a black-and-white film that follows two 1890s lighthouse keepers (Dafoe and Pattinson) as they descend into insanity during a strong New England storm. Dafoe appeared in another film featured at this year's Cannes Film Festival called Tommaso.
