WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Batman: White Knight Presents Harley Quinn #3 from Katana Collins, Sean Murphy, Matteo Scalera, Dave Stewart, and AndWorld Design, on sale now.

Batman: White Knight Presents Harley Quinn has taken us deeper into the mind of the DC antihero, offering a greater understanding of why she loved Jack Napier and then gravitated towards Batman. With Bruce Wayne in jail for his crimes, she's going through another stressful period with the copycat killer known as Starlet murdering old actors from the Golden Age of film.

While Harley links the deaths back to the Clown Prince of Crime, Batman: White Knight Presents Harley Quinn #3 throws her for a loop as it seems the murderer might be someone much more intimate with those Hollywood stars from yesteryear. In the process, the book may well have given Harley her creepiest villain as she starts unlocking more pieces of the puzzle.

Bit by bit, Harley's figuring out more about the killer's motives after realizing that the culprit was not Neo-Joker. Harley's investigation takes a huge turn here when Simon Trent, the actor who played the Gray Ghost, survives an attack by the Starlet. It turns out the Starlet wants revenge for a botched date with Sofia Valentine, one of the Dashing Dames: five women who were in high demand for movies back in the day.

Two of the former leading ladies have already been killed and three are left, one being Sofia. But the plot thickens when the FBI agent in charge, Hector Quimby, is revealed to be Sofia's son. Duke Thomas wants him off the case, but Harley's intrigued and doesn't mind the conflict of interest as he'll want to protect his mom even more. Ironically, they end up uncovering an old reel the killer left behind, and it shows Sofia in an interview with Hector running around.

Sofia actually got pregnant with him to win an Oscar for a role out of sympathy, but since then there's not been much love. It's why they're estranged now, with Harley wondering if the film student, Hector's mysterious nanny, who shot the interview is responsible. As they probe Sofia at her mansion, she berates the young lady, a failed actress, leaving Harley and Duke a bit apprehensive about the egotistical Sofia and if she's actually the killer.

Interestingly, we do see the Producer, the new villain of the story, chiding Ethel, the bolo-knife-throwing Starlet, for failing to murder Simon, in a moment that suggests the villain is younger than Sofia Moreover, the story takes another dark turn when Harley finds out Hector lied to her. He said he studied her when he was in med school, but his mom admits he's been an obsessed Harley Quinn fanboy since he was a kid. He wanted to be Robin as he was a Batman fan, but he shifted towards Harley as he got older.

As she pokes around his room, which is basically a shrine to her, we see Starlet in the closet hiding, which suggests that Hector could be the villain, complete with some Harley Quinn-esuqe make-up. Although Sofia knocked him for his acting skills, it seems like Hector may have transformed himself into a Harley-esque figure as a way to live out his dreams as one of Gotham's most infamous figures.
