The Batman: White Knight Universe has given fans a very nuanced look into what it'd be like if Harley Quinn and the Joker tried to be heroes. Sadly, in Curse of the White Knight, the Clown Prince of Crime regressed into madness and Harley had to stop him for good, but now she's moving on as the mother of their twins and as someone who's trying to do right by Gotham City.

Now, Batman: White Knight Presents Harley Quinn is offering deeper insight into how her and Bruce Wayne's relationship is evolving. In the process, we witness Harley on her weirdest date ever when she visits Bruce in prison.

Bruce went to jail for his war crimes, donating his family's estate to rebuild the city as they were complicit in corruption. Harley, though, hasn't forgotten what he's done for Gotham, and she's in love with him after they tried to save Jack Napier's soul. And so, the first issue explores her connecting with the former Dark Knight in prison to figure out what she wants to do with her life.

Harley's been approached by Duke Thomas to work with the cops and the FBI, namely the profiler and psychologist Hector Quimby, to catch a serial killer who's murdering movie stars. She has bills heaping up and is mentally fatigued from raising her kids and two hyenas, so she visits Bruce to clear her head. He's pretty happy as she's a frequent visitor, and clearly, he's her break from the world. They have a session where he encourages her to take the case as they need her expertise but more so, he makes it clear she can be the strong woman that stood beside him and Joker again.

The ex-Batman knows motherhood is a hurdle she'll overcome despite her doubts, and he openly talks up her intelligence. In fact, Bruce is all smiles to,o as he's glad to be surrounded by her warmth, to the point where he puts his hand on the glass as they talk. Harley does the same and even uses her finger to draw a heart on the glass in a very romantic moment.

As odd as it may be, the relationship between Harley and Batman is based on trust and serves as a stark reflection to Harley in her early days with the Joker. Bruce ends up inspiring Harley to go solve the case and to believe she's a better person who now has him, Duke and other heroes as a support system. And in return, just seeing her succeed means the world to him.
