WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Dark Nights: Death Metal #1 by Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, FCO Plascencia and Tom Napolitano, available now from DC.

Batman just revealed that the ultimate technology to counter him (and the Batman Who Laughs) is Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet.

While taking part in Batman Who Laughs' new council, Wonder Woman receives a telepathic message from Batman. Having revealed that he'd once developed a working copy of Martian Manhunter's telepathy, Batman is able to communicate with Wonder Woman. It's a nice reminder of just how clever Bruce Wayne is, and how easily he's able to come up with impossible items for any situation, even reasonably finding replicas and counters to many of the DC Universe's most powerful forces. But it turns out, there's one piece of technology that Batman could never counter: Wonder Woman's invisible jet.

THE ULTIMATE BATMAN COUNTER

The Invisible Jet was always one of the most potent tools in Wonder Woman's arsenal. Even after she gained the ability to fly of her own accord, the jet could still prove to be a fundamentally important tool during missions that require a certain amount of stealth and speed. The jet can enter supersonic speeds, allowing her to move across the planet at an enhanced rate - which is especially useful is Wonder Woman needs to travel with other heroes or civilians. But the invisible element of the jet made it especially potent, as revealed by Batman. It's capable of avoiding all forms of detection, making it the perfect stealthy tool to use to sneak into any situation. Perhaps because of the magical nature of the plane, Batman was never able to discover a way to counter or replicate the effects of the plane.

To Batman, this potentially makes the jet a perfect tool to avoid the effects of the Batman Who Laughs and his machinations for the remainder of the multiverse. If melted down and converted into armor, the jet could give Batman, Wonder Woman, and their remaining allies the invisibility needed to escape into the castle of the Batman Who Laughs and find the means to create a single good world that can survive the corrupting of all other things.

What Batman doesn't know is that Wonder Woman has already had a similar idea - albeit, one that doesn't involve running away. She's been cutting the invisible jet to pieces for the enchanted material the vehicle is made of. While Bat-Mage imagines this is to create new chains for the prisoner's Wonder Woman has to now watch over as the warden of hell, in reality, she's used it to create an invisible chainsaw - making it perhaps the one kind of weapon that couldn't be detected or disabled by the Batman Who Laughs.

Wonder Woman quickly proves how effective the invisible chainsaw can be, using it to seemingly slice the Batman Who Laughs in half. While he seemingly had a contingency in place for his eventual death, it does seem to confirm Batman's idea that the invisible material of the jet (and now chainsaw) make it untraceable, even by him. It's something Wonder Woman should keep in mind if the core-Batman ever begins to showcase the darker side of his personality. No matter how much he can plan and prepare, there are some things even Batman can't counter.
