DC characters tend to be a bit lower on the power scale than Marvel, which has a penchant for exaggerating physics. Then again, Superman could wipe out half the X-Men without losing his breath, so it's not like a clear victory can be expected from a match-up between two characters from each universe.

Take Batman, one of the finest minds — and equally fine bodies — in either reality, and he might be destroyed by the likes of the Dark Phoenix or Galactus. But what would happen if, instead of pairing the Dark Knight against cosmic entities, he had to fight Spider-Man?

10 Batman: Intelligence

Peter Parker is a smart man, ranking among the finest minds in the Marvel scientific community. He might be nimble on his feet (and in the air), but his brain works at even faster rate.

Still, he doesn't come close to the sheer genius of Batman: whose lack of superpowers has forced him to develop alternative strategies to defeat his enemies. Whatever Spider-Man might think regarding the outcome of a fight between them, Batman is and has always been, ten steps ahead.

9 Spider-Man: Spectacular Stamina

Batman's recovery time is rather impressive — he is able to fight to the point of exhaustion, and then somehow muster up some extra energy and persevere until his foe has fled or lost.

Even so, it pales in comparison with Spider-Man's advanced healing, for instance, being able to come back from total blindness as well as fully heal from intense cases of third-degree burns, whether fire or acid. That's not all: Spidey is also largely immune to most varieties of poisons and pathogens.

8 Batman: Hand-to-Hand

Spider-Man is highly versatile in combat, which lets him counter pretty much any style of attack. Peter has been known to take on and defeat opponents like Black Panther, Quicksilver and Wolverine.

He will still lose to the Dark Knight, who is nothing less than one of the greatest fighters on Earth — at the very least, Batman has total mastery of around 14 martial styles (possibly more), and has even invented his own variety that Alfred refers to as "Bam Pow."

7 Spider-Man: Precognition

Batman has his own share of sensory talents, being able to detect spirits and invisible items with his decades of experience. It still does not compare to Spider-Man's innate spider-sense, an inexplicable ability that lets him feel oncoming danger long before it even occurs.

Furthermore, this is deeply interlinked with his super-speed, allowing him to react well in advance. In fact, it doesn't matter if the attack occurs at light speed or with the force of a thousand suns, almost nothing can reach Spider-Man without him realizing it first.

6 Batman: Unbreakable Resolve

Peter Parker possesses great quantities of mental fortitude, for instance when he breaks out of Doc Ock's nanobot control through sheer willpower. On the other hand, Batman is practically unstoppable (regardless of physical injury or psychological forces trying to slow him down.)

He can resist most forms of psionic assault, making his brain one of the few completely shielded from intrusion. This is best observed in his ability to use Green Lantern's Ring if the situation really demands it, as well as in how easily he seems to handle the mind-game playing DC villains.

5 Spider-Man: Radioactive Spider Mutations

Unfortunately, the Dark Knight is only human (although many would argue that calling him as such is a bit of a stretch.) Spider-Man, however, has been blessed with "Spider Physiology" ever since he gets bitten by the extremely mutated spider.

The combination of radioactivity and spider genetics imbues Peter with extreme strength, toughness, speed, and, in one horrifying case, unnecessarily extra limbs. Although Spider-Man has been shown to employ web-shooters in many versions, he can also spray his own brand of spider-silk through slits in his wrist.

4 Batman: Equipment

Being a prolific inventor, Peter Parker's technological inventions are amazing, especially his GPS-performing "Spider-Tracers." Bruce Wayne, though, has a near-limitless series of paraphernalia, each carefully designed and constructed with specific purposes in mind.

For instance, the Batmobile, of course, but also a kevlar/titanium Batsuit, a flexible utility belt, various Bat-vehicles, Batarangs and other Bat-themed weapons, to name a few. Spider-Man would have a rather tough time if he had to take on Batman in this department.

3 Spider-Man: Physical Strength

Batman has undergone a rigorous training regimen to maintain his perfect physical build, far superior to all athletes (of any kind.) In comparison with Peter's literally superhuman strength, however, the Dark Knight might have to take a step back and properly plan his next course of action.

Spider-Man has shown that he can lift objects around 100 times his own weight, be it tanks, cars, planes, or even bearing the weight of the collapsing Daily Bugle building. In addition, he is capable of shattering Doc Ock's tentacles as well as successfully piercing the armor of Iron Man.

2 Batman: Investigative Skills

Spider-Man might have his spidey-sense, but the biggest drawback is its time-sensitivity. In other words, he can only comprehend imminent threats, not plans that have already been concocted. On the contrary, Batman is called the World's Greatest Detective because his eye for details is unmatched.

The intuitive wisdom with which he solves his cases shows that Batman doesn't need more than a shred of information to accurately predict the cause or conclusion of any event.

1 Winner: Batman

Making two of the most popular (and most talented) superheroes in Marvel and DC duke it out would be a magnificent sight — both of them would bring out everything in their arsenal so as to prove their own superiority against each other.

Too bad that Spider-Man is going to be the loser in this match, though, because his physical powers and speedy reaction times cannot outcompete the Dark Knight's battle preparation and willingness to sacrifice everything in order to snatch the victory he clearly deserves.
