It isn't hard to argue that out of all of the heroes of DC Comics, Batman has the most popular, villainous Rogue’s Gallery in the DC Universe. From the Joker and Penguin to Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze and Ra’s al Ghul, Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery is responsible for some of the most iconic storylines in DC Comics.

One of the reasons these villains give Batman so much trouble is the wide array of weaponry they use against the Dark Knight and the citizens of Gotham. Let’s take a look at the ten most powerful weapons used by Batman’s Rogues Gallery in the world of DC Comics.

10 Penguin’s Umbrella

One of the first most iconic weapons used by one of Batman’s villains has to be The Penguin’s wide array of trick umbrellas. In his first introduction, the Penguin used an umbrella to hide artifacts and stolen goods, sneaking them away from the scene of the crime unnoticed.

However as the Penguin has evolved from a thief and minor villain to a powerful villain and criminal kingpin of Gotham, so too have his umbrellas evolved. From shields and shotgun capabilities to poison darts, hidden cameras, and even jet umbrellas that allow the Penguin to get away from Batman before he can be captured, these umbrellas are truly powerful.

9 Catwoman’s Whip

One of Batman’s more intriguing villains is actually Catwoman. What makes Selina Kyle so interesting is that she has skated the line between villain and hero for years. Before her more recent stint as a hero and nearly becoming Batman’s partner in life and in their heroic careers, Selina Kyle was a master thief and antagonist of Batman.

One of her most powerful weapons is actually her whip. Not only is the whip powerful enough to cut and hurt her enemies, but she uses the whip to navigate the city of Gotham, from the highest rooftops to the lowest alleyways, allowing her to escape Batman’s clutches time and again.

8 Riddler’s Cane

If there is one villain who has challenged the Batman intellectually more than others, it has to be the Riddler. The self-proclaimed genius Edward Nygma has battled the Dark Knight for years, believing Batman’s ability to outsmart him time and again is one of the greatest insults a man of Nygma’s intellect has ever had to suffer.

One of the ways he battles Batman is with special Riddler canes he has designed. From their basic function as a weapon to hidden buttons that control some of the elaborate death traps he’s laid for Batman, Riddler’s cane is one weapon that is too dangerous in the wrong hands.

7 Harley Quinn’s Mallet

The next item on this list has to be Harley Quinn’s mallet. What makes this weapon so powerful is not some elaborate hidden functions or components, but the person wielding the weapon to begin with. Harley Quinn has evolved from a sidekick and love interest to the villainous Joker to an anti-hero/villain who breaks the fourth wall, much like Marvel’s Deadpool.

Her antics and loose grip on sanity have made her a dangerous ally and foe to Batman over the years. While she has become a sort of hero in the DC Universe, her constant battles with Batman make her large, heavy mallet a powerful force of nature in the DC Universe.

6 Man-Bat Serum

Shifting from physical weaponry to more biological warfare type of weaponry, one of Batman’s most dangerous foes is Kirk Langstrom, the man who inadvertently became the Man-Bat. A scientist who was developing a serum to help those with hearing deficiencies, Kirk tested his serum on himself, and became the Man-Bat creature instead, terrorizing Gotham.

Not only has the serum been used by Kirk and even his wife Francine, but the serum has been stolen and used by villains like the League of Assassins and later Ignatius Ogilvy. The serum was used by the League of Assassins to create a unit of Bat-Commandos.

5 Mr. Freeze’s Freeze Cannon

One of the more powerful handheld weapons that a Batman villain has ever used has to be Mr. Freeze’s Hand-Canon. The icy villain is Victor Fries, a scientist who’s wife Nora is cryogenically frozen in order to save her from a deadly illness. Genetically altered in a lab experiment, Fries must survive in cold, harsh temperatures in order to survive.

One of the weapons he uses to fight Batman and fuel his mission to save his wife Nora is his freeze gun. The weapon can freeze objects and people in solid ice and is one of the more powerful weapons wielded by Batman’s villains.

4 Deadshot’s Wrist Cannons

One villain that Batman has battled that has had a more significant impact on the DC Universe as a whole is Deadshot. Floyd Lawton is a master marksman, able to hit any mark he intended to hit, and is a professional assassin and often forced to lead the Suicide Squad for Amanda Waller.

Aside from his martial arts training, marksmanship, and even knife training, one of his most iconic weapons is the machine guns mounted on each wrist, otherwise known as Deadshot’s Hand Canons. This gives Deadshot the advantage in most fights and has even helped fend off hordes of enemies when outnumbered.

3 Fear Toxin

One of the most dangerous villains Batman faces regularly has to be Scarecrow. Otherwise known as Dr. Jonathan Crane, Scarecrow is a man obsessed with fear and believes it to be the one true force that showcases humanity’s true nature. One of the weapons he has developed to use fear not only against Batman, but the world is his special brand of fear toxin.

Often used in large scale attacks on Gotham and in battle against Batman and his allies, the fear toxin seeps into a person’s body, and draws out hallucinations of their greatest fears, driving them mad or even to commit violence.

2 Venom

One of the most physically challenging and powerful foes Batman has ever faced is Bane. Not only is he superiorly strong, but he is a master tactician and a powerful mercenary who has lived in and escaped one of the most dangerous prisons in the world. He is ruthless, unforgiving, and has an obsession with breaking Batman physically and mentally.

One of the ways he does this is through the repeated use of Venom, a special chemical that physically alters and enhances Bane’s strength. This gives him an edge in battle and has even led to him physically breaking Batman’s back.

1 Joker Toxin

The most dangerous, powerful, and widely used weapon wielded by one of Batman’s villains has to be the Joker’s Joker Toxin. The Joker is the most dangerous villain in all of Batman’s Rogue’s Gallery, with a penchant for madness and committing violent crimes for the sake of some psychotic punchline he finds humorous.

One of the ways he has tested Batman and all of Gotham over the years is the Joker Toxin. A special chemical concoction that acts similarly to Scarecrow’s fear toxin, the Joker Toxin seeps into a person’s body and causes uncontrollable laughter, contorting a person’s face and sometimes even leading to heart failure and death.
